Following a PM from Elaine, I checked out Sloans Market in Glasgow last week (I'm in gLashow most weeks but forgot about this one)

There were 2 soap sellers - One was Caurnie (sp?) soap - a traditional soap maker and I think they specialise in Nettle soap.

The other had soap in amongst other things but there is no way she's doing it by the book. No weights, the ingredients list was  'Glycerine & Shea Soap Base, Resin Colour, Parfum'. And to be honest, they weren't very nice.

Anyway, I was speking to one of the stall holders, and from her info decided to email the Manager. And I popped in yesterday with my sister, and spoke to the man personally and he's booked me in for next week!!!! Saturday and Sunday for £40.

It's down a lane just of Buchannan Street, one of the busiest streets in Glasgow so there is a lot of passing trade. And if the poorly made soap seller was there 2 weeks running, she must be making some moeny to make it worth while, so I'm rather hopeful.

But pray for SUNSHINE for me cos it's outside.

And Many thanks to Elaine for the PM  :buttrf:

Congratulation polly. That is a very busy street. £40 for a Sat & Sun is brilliant. The city of hills, still remember the blisters from walking those streets one w/e.

Thanks guys, going to be busy - my Body butter tins came while I was on holiday so they are not going to be delivered till Thursday but I'm not getting stressed about that. As long as I have plenty of soap to sell that should be eough to start with - so I'll be busy at nights.

And yes, Eire, depending there are a lot of hilly streets in Glasgow. Not good for the likes of unfit me.

Good Pluck Polly, that's a great price for 2 days, have you got a gazebo type thing to go over your stall?

Thankfully tables and a waterproof canopy thingy are provided! As far as I can tell, the market has been there for at least a few years. And it's part of the Sloans pub with is in the lane too, so if it's poring with rain, and I've sold zip, I can colsole myself with a large glass of wine  Grin

Adding - Have some large sheets of polythene and clips 'cos rain can blow in at the sides, back and front.

Hopefully it won't rain on your first day and you can get some tips from your neighbouring stall holders.
