Hi everyone,

I stumbled on this wonderful forum and very glad I did. My name is Avril and I am a total novice at making cosmetic products.
I have taken a couple of courses but am still in the experimental stage.
I am a qualified herbalist and busy Mum by day and  get a lot of pleasure from experimenting with lotions and potions in my spare time.

Happy Valentines

Avril

Hello Avril.

Very nice to have a qualified herbalist on board - there's bound to be questions for you to answer!

There's lots of info about all aspects of cosmetics so take a good look round and shout out if you can't find something you need to know.

Hi Avril, so glad to have you join us.  A very warm welcome  Smiley

Ooh... a herbalist, I can see might have your brains picked somewhat.  What a lovely combination herbal and hand crafted products - perfect!

What sorts of things have you experimented with Avril?  Creams/lotions?  Soapies?

Good to have you here  :buttrf:

Hi Helen,

I am experimenting with mainly body care /bath products, but love making creams and serums.  However, these will need to be assessed before I can actual sell to the public, and that takes time.  So my guinea pigs are family and friends.  In my professional life I make up creams and topical applications but that is more medical  and personalised for the particular patient.

I have yet to make soaps and had been putting that off because of working with Lyle, but I have over come my irrational feelings!!!!! so now when time allows I will seek a course out!!!

Welcome to the forum Smiley

We looooooove pics on this forum so please share whenever you can Wink

As for soap, have you thought about trying your hand at Melt and Pour before you do CP/HP? No lye involved there!

Hi Avil.  Welcome.

I put off making soap for 2 years while I plucked up the courage, but honestly the lye is nothing to fear.  As long as you are sensible, then it does not bite.

Hi Avril

Nice to meet you.  I am sure you will give it a whirl soon.  Its so rewarding to lift the soap out of the mold and think I have made this, and the benefits to your skin.  Looking forward to seeing your first pics  :buttrf:
