Having spent Sat & Sun with very few customers to entertain me I'm looking for something productive that I can do whilst at a craft fair. Does anyone else make stuff while it's quiet? What  Huh?
I thought about talking some knitting and bashing out cotton wash cloths, but I'd be embarrassed to let people see how slow and what a poor knitter I am  Wink
Any suggetions? Something fairly cheap, I'm not looking to start a new addiction, just occupy my hands so I don't eat all day!

I'll take some things that need doing like labelling jars, etc. I also make up gift boxes while I'm there, and I'll take some knitting to do or the day's paper or a book...mind you I might start taking some felting bits to do when I eventually get into that...ohh just remembered I made some bath bombs once while I was sat there - took my scales so I could measure out properly...you could just about do anything apart from make soap :mwaha:

Sometimes I take a bunch of straw and make Corn Dollies - but the advantage of a regular mart is that you establish a relationship with the nextdoor stallholder (fortunately the jewellery maker has the same sense of humour as I do) and so we chat, or try to predict when the cake lady will sell up (she didn't at the last mart).

I might take some crochet - it's easier to put down than knitting (don't know what I'd crochet though - containers for gift boxes maybe.)

I take my batches of soap to wrap and label, and dress my Rose soaps with rosebuds which takes ages. I chat with other stall holders, as we are all regulars we tend to know each other now, I discuss packaging ideas with the jewellery girls, exchange contact details for markets/forthcoming events etc. Read the paper, listen to my ipod and drink coffee endlessly.

if you aren't that keen on knitting, try crochet. It makes very nice washcloths and it's easier to learn, and as said before, much easier to put down.

It's easier to learn from watching rather than reading a book. The books make it sound very complicated, but it really is not.

Can't think of anything else, really. Reading books and listening to ipods might be a bit offputting to potential customers.

Ok, I'll have to try crochet, I think I was taught that when I was a kid but have forgotten now. I doubt I could do much wrapping, a lot of my fairs are in the middle of fields and carrying crates of soap doesn't excite me.
I do manage a fair bit of chatting but when I'm stuck next to some members of the association, I'd rather not!

Yup.  I make costume jewellery and bag charm and rosaries and pretty much anything that involves beads.

Well I don't do craft fairs, but I do make stuff (or at least try my hand at anything), I made 3 bridesmaids dresses earlier this year (DD wedding), I used to make her dresses when she was little too, I am making her an owl cushion for Christmas, and someone has asked me to make a door stop (another Christmas present), I have previously made bespoke cards, got fed up with that as everything was so expensive, I have a ton of craft stuff under my bed lol
