Hello Everyone!  Hi!

I found this site a few weeks ago and haven’t had time to take a good look through it until now.  Well, I’m stuck at home with some kind of yucky virus  Under the weather which has made me incredibly ill and unable to do anything but sit (which I’m no good at! Grr! Rant) Been at home so long, I’m beginning to feel like a hermit!  Still, the www is a god-send!  Now that I’m much better but still isolated from humanity, I’ve really been enjoying browsing through the website and discussion boards.  I think this place is GREAT and I’m really happy that I’ve found it as it’s so inspirational!

I’ve been dabbling in making my own skincare stuff for some time now but have just started taking it all more seriously after having requests from friends and family to sell to them and their friends and family!  At this point all making halted and I started learning about the whole legislation and certification process etc.  I didn’t even know if it was feasible for lil’ ol’ me to sell my stuff!  Still all a bit scary yet! At the same time, I’ve been learning more about making creams and other things.  I’ve only tried one cream which turned out more like a fluffy mouse as I went mad with the electric whisk!!  Pot

I’ve spent a lot of time learning about vegetable oils and a few essential oils mainly and have been using these to mix up oils for various things.  I love mixing up clay masks, balms and butters.  I read the post on “gritty bits” in recipes and I remember the first time I saw them, I thought it was mould!!  I couldn’t quite work out why some of my products weren’t as bad as others.  A couple of my mixtures came out fine and I now know they were the ones I popped into the fridge to set fast, as I had to deliver to my sis!   Smiley

I know I have a long way to go and I lots of ideas and recipes I’ve put together to experiment with…  Stuck at home and can’t even try to make anything for fear of contaminating it all!  Booo!

So, that’s me. Thanks!   Wishing you all a lovely weekend!  Smiley

Hi de hi Saffy and a very warm welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for introducing yourself and poor you, being so poorly  Under the weather  I hope you get back to full strength soon  big hug

The legal side of things may seem a bit scary and difficult to get your head around but as you will see, many get through it and there are lots of discussions on this around the boards and there is some info on the main site on this (although much of that is available to site authors - something you can acquire easily  Wink).

The forum is a good source of inspiration and ideas for product & skill development (I like experimenting with creams and nearly always post my findings of completed experiments).  There is a thread about reducing air bubbles in creams in the forumulators board (how to avoid the souffle effect).

I do hope you have managed to go through some of the threads in the non-cosmo board, most are very funny (although many are not for the faint hearted) and great if you need a cheer me up.  Do join in the madness if you fancy a giggle  Grin

Well a very warm welcome and hope you enjoy it here  Hi!

Hello Saffy,

Hope you're soon over the virus!

If you're stuck with anything just ask - there's almost certain to be someone with an answer or able to point you in the right direction.

Hey, Helen, Elaine, Jojo!   Group hug Thank you for the warm wishes!  Feel very welcomed!  It's great Smiley  What a fabulously friendly bunch you all are! I'm going to take more time to look around the site.  There's soo much going on! This place is brilliant and I look forward to participating and getting to know you all!  Whilst I've been away my sister's hubby called me complaining about the fact that he's getting freckles!?! and horribly dry skin all over and if I knew of anything that can help.  Not sure about the freckles? but I could perhaps do a butter for him but he doesn't like greasy stuff (not that it's too greasy, but need to give it a few minutes to sink in) Has anyone heard of or tried the stuff available on: http://www.elenasnaturecollection.co.uk/1/default.asp  ?

It's supposed to be good for eczema, states it's all natural and doesn't contain any steroids, and is available of the NHS!  Maybe here's not the place to ask but I need to get my head around the right places to post stuff, so bear with me...

Thanks for the interesting link there Saffy, I'll take a look around it later I think.  A butter sounds like a good idea for him and like you say, if he can just wait a few minutes, it soaks in nicely without a greasy feel.  Do take a look around though, there may be discussions already taken place that will answer questions you might be thinking of and do feel free to post Saffy  Grin

P.S.  Tell him to wear high SPF.  It won't get rid of fresckles but will reduce the chances of new ones forming.  I get a few freckles across my nose in the summer but a high SPF does help.  They disappear completely in the winter  Shrug?

Cool!  Thanks for the tip Helen.  I'll let him know.  Elena's stuff does look good!!  Might get my brother in law to get some on prescription if he can and then I can try it out too and let y'all know!

I'll be having a good read first or else I'll prob end up asking a million questions that have already been answered, and annoy everyone for being a lazy git! Smiley  Place is a mess and as the horrible fever and aches have died down today, I think I'll do some cleaning now or else I'll spend the rest of the of the day on here!  Oooh would love to order a pizza and a bottle of wine but tum won't be able to handle it.. so it's soup again.. and not the homemade stuff either! maybe a mushy movie on pay per view.... and a box of tissues (happy or sad ending, i always cry!)

Just so you know Saffy, our illustrious leader is one of the worst culprits, but has a habit of going to bed just before she gets told off.  Butter wouldn't melt.  Roll Eyes

Hello to Corrie, Sal and Emma!  Hope you guys are all well.    Me, no, to be honest, this yucky virus thang seems to be master of all kinds of symptoms/guises!  now it's manifesting itself in diff ways.  Got up at 7am feeling very ill indeed!  Sad  Had a shock when I looked out the window to find the garden covered in snow!!?!?!?

I normally have a philosophy of "thinking myself better", and believe you me, I've been hard at it for 7 days now but it's just not workin'!!!   Bawl  ok, won't give in, now....  it has to leave my body soon...   Anyone know of any super duper food or pill that can give my immune system a massive nudge and kick-start?

Gosh, what an intro eh?  Smiley
