Any recommendations on the best place to buy scales.

The ones I have aren't that, looking for something more precise!

Are you looking for trade scales or the jewellers scales (for weighing essential/fragrance oils)?

Hey, ones to measure out ingredients for soap making.  The ones I have are digital but barely pick up a gram when measured out!

I don't know which site is best to purchase a scale from, but I suggest getting one that plugs in.  My previious scales ran on batteries and when the batteries were low it did not indicate they were low.  One of the scales must have been low, which made my ingredients weights inaccurate.  I had to rebatch alot of soap.   Strop

I've got My Weigh KD8000, can't remember where I got them from but it was off the internet, they plug in, think they ended up being £40 - £50 with p&p   Smiley

Thanks Esby - good advice since I was going to go for a battery operated one again!

Jan, do you think it's worth investing in one of these? Does it have the Tare function - can't see it on the product info page

Yes they have a tare function and also the baker's percent (that's more for bread baking though), they are the ones that Sarah Janes recommends   :buttrf:

I have two sets of scales. Both from ebay, first one is something like

Now I have scale envy - I found it at Amazon but no shipping into Canada -  Rant  I'll keep looking but what an awesome looking scale!   :buttrf:

I use Anthony Worrall Thompson digital scale that I got in Robert Dyas for about 6 quid. It is accurate enough but quite slow to register, so you have to keep pausing and pour very slowly as you get near your target weight.

It did have a pretty silver finish until I got silicon rubber all over in the other day. Instead of waiting for it to dry and peeling it off, I rubbed it down with ethyl acetate, which took off the silicone rubber and the silver paint. Sad

Your scales were around the same price as mine...it just didn't seem to register any weight until it hit 5grams.  Not great for balms and creams Sad

Sure the other one on it's way will be better - fingers crossed

Sam, I'd say that you'll still need some tiny digital scales for the smaller amounts, even the kd8000 is not that accurate with very small amounts as it only weighs in increments of 1g   :buttrf:
