Newbie here.

This year I have decided to have a crafty Christmas and to  make some wax tarts for some of my mates and family as gifts. I am therefore looking to buy a bulk lot of oil burners (have found a supplier) as although i know most of them burn candles I am not sure whether they have yet found tarts so part of the gift will be an oil burner to burn them in.

My question is about the minimum size the oil burner well needs to be. Will an 8 - 8.5cm be larger enough? I will be making/have started to make tarts that weight about 20 grams using the moulds that you can buy from whicks and wax.

Also i am using soy wax to make my tarts, a pillar wax blend was provided in the starter kit however I have seem some references to using a container wax blend? Which is best/do you prefer?

hi there curlywurly, not sure how much help i can, but i have just started meddling with wax, same as i have with soap!!!
I have made some soy wax tarts and i used container wax but wasnt very happy as they had a lot of frosting on them. So got some help from a candle forum and they siad to use pillar wax or maybe a 75/25 mix (75PB 25CB)
I think its a bit of trail and error, the ones I've done today with the PB are brilliant. No frosting at all !

Never thought about sizes, but Kevie did an excellent tutorial and he recommended soy wax pillar blend.

I usually make melts in ice cube moulds, and they are about 10g each.

Can you get a sample burner to check?

i was thinking of an 80/20 blend so gmy thinking wasn't too far off what the professionals recommend.

the oil burners i have are Yankee candle one and then a large hexagonal one. i don't really have the time to buy one and then order more (as we are doing Christmas with friends at the beg of november).

I was looking for a supplier for the burners a while back.. never found one, impressed you did (or maybe I was looking for the wrong thing).

i found a few others just by googling "wholesale oil burners"

if you only need a couple for friends, check out TKMaxx, they have some nice ones sometimes

i'm looking at 7 or 8 as i will also be making some for some family members and other friends for Christmas.

Honey perhaps you can help? Do you think an 8cm well is large enough for 20g tarts? The moulds I am currently using are slightly smaller than YC tarts.

I don't want to buy everyone burners that won't fit the good in!

try AW, they have a good selection, and the min is very low, 6 or 12. Although I have just realised, they do have a min order of 50 pounds, so scratch that .......sorry!

I'll check the one I have at home and weigh the melts I have too and come back to you cos they were a good match (bought from someone I met on FB actually).
