I am considering booking a space at this event, but it is rather expensive, so I am pondering. Has anyone here done anything similar ? Or has someone already booked  (I know we have some members from around the area)

Are these kind of events worth it ? The location is about 90 mins drive from here, so not overly far and camping is included in the price (not a big fan of tents here, prefer my own bed, but have family in Chatham, so could possibly stay there)

I went to this event last year for the first time as I was considering doing it, but I wasn't very impressed. Their visitor numbers have fallen off quite a lot and from what I remember on the news they were running a a loss last year. The tents that I visited were busy but everyone was just walking through and not really stopping to buy. There was an awful lot of bought in products and to be honest for the money they charge for a pitch I wouldn't do it.
But that's just my opinion, you might decide to do it and have a fantastic event  Smiley

Thanks for answering that teresa. I might go as a visitor, but I cannot risk £200 for a possible washout event. There is a couple of larger events I am considering and I can only chose one (the larger events do seem to be pricey).

It's a shame that they were running at a loss last year, it seems like quite a fun event, but I am also suspecting that this year it will be even worse, if they clash with the Football Worldcup..

oooh - one of the other large events has just offered me a free stall, if I help out with the soap-making boot camp (can't teach, but will help). I am sooo chuffed !!

So I can book one other now. YAY

mp is this the agric show? if it is i did it last year in the eco village, you find yourself with quiet a few people selling similar stuff. it was a hard sell(we couldnt afford to try and not sell to everyone who stopped by our stand). we camped on the grounds which was nice but from morn till sunset it ad to be  a hard sell otherwise you wont make enough for your expenses. we were camped in a tucked away tent and most of the people in the village were very unhappy.

Congratulations on the boot camp. that is fab.

Its a tough to know what to do about that fair & only you can decide.  You need to find a niche in what you do - looks like a lot of equestrian events & horsey people attending  Wink

If you have faith and enjoy what you do, and not set your sights too high then you shouldn't get too dissapointed.  £200 squid is alot of money for something you haven't seen as a visitor - personally I agree with yourself  and go and have a snoop about first as a visitor.   Another one I am being considered for works out at just over £400 squid but I know it well as I have been many times as a snooper   :mwaha:

Well done on the Boot Camp - you must take pickys.

The one in Kent is some kind of agricultural show. If I have the time I will definitley attend as a visitor. (You can take the girl out fo the country....)

The one with the soap bootcamp is one of the re-enactment events. I am pretty sure there are plenty of soap sellers, but it just sounds like such a lot of fun, I still want to go. I can see myself all dressed up in Linen stirring some ash to get lye  :mwaha:

Thanks all for your help. It's my first season booking events and I am still not sure what kind of price is good value and which isn't, but £200 is just beyond my means. All other events have been free or £15. And it's a bit weird to book so far ahead.

My hubs used to do re-enactment events, he always had a great time and totally loved it.. I think it'd be a blast.  Best of luck MP!
