HP Soap is NOT rough and soft!

« on: November 27, 2009, 11:29:17 PM »

Just got in from a Girls' (adult) Night House Party - goodly orders and only 300 yards away!

Couldn't stay any longer with the vino and food 'cos I have to be in Llangollen in the morning for a craft fair at the Pavilion.

Loads of creams and some soaps, some "Pure & Simple" body butters (nilotica, VCO & Jojoba wax unfragranced) - I didn't have any butters/balms on the list tonight.

They really hitched on to the "natural ingredients" aspect of the creams (I did explain about the emulsifiers and preservatives) and the soaps with essential oils.

Thats brilliant. Hope you get some repeat orders from it too. Always helps when people get the chance to really talk about what they are buying.

I introduced them as "probably more natural then L___ but not as highly scented" and they went for that (late 20s to mid 30s).

They also thought that they were good value.

Well today's fair was strange - some people were doing OK and soame weren't - I took nearly £200 and the lady opposite just £1.50 (decoupage and painted mirror frames (more paint than decoupage) dressing table sets, candle jars/glasses and boxes, buckets and knickknacks.

I didn't sell any Corn Dollies, Felt Bags or Gift Boxes but loads of creams then some soaps and drawer scenters sachets plus a couple of felt pots with potpouurri.

It was said that last year's fair - run by the Council was an absolute shambles so both stall holders and customers could have been put off.

JL had booked it to coinicide with the towns Christmas Festival - then the Town Council decided a fortnight ago to move the festival to next weekend; then they complained to the County Council that there was nothing going on in the Pavilion that weekend; then they last week they contacted JL and asked them to move the craft fair followed by bead fair weekend to next weekend!!!

So whether JL will be there again next year is undecided.

Well that was a good haul for you! Congrats! Pity about the lady beside you though and weird on the mixing up of the dates, that's rather confusing!

Wasn' t a mixup - the local council changed the date at short notice - and expected the craft and bead fiars to be able change also!!

Thats awful and were they going to pay for the reasdvertising, lack of ability/ loss of sales for those who were then double booked.

Honestly!! Some beurocrats really live up to their name. Burea Prats,

Glad you did well though :buttrf:

Ta people.

Apart from the sales I had two enquiries as to whether I would do occasional Visiting Tutor sessions in felt bowl making and a member of a co-operative who run a wholefood shop in Llangollen asked whether I would supply to a shop (she couldn't act on her own but would have to consult the other members). They do buy from Suma but she was personally of the opinion that locally made soaps etc.

Mind wasn't fully in gear 'cos it was later in the afternoon and my soporific bathsalts were having their affect; I should have given her two or three samples to take back - so I'll have to tootle along to Llan and leavesome samples in the shop.

Thats brilliant Elaine. It may be better to tootle along anyway as you a can bring a range and get the chance to chat to the other CO-OP members. They'll know exactly your ethos and products and experience your knowledge for themselves. Much stronger pitch I feel.

Bet you slept well last night. :buttrf:
