We'll post more in due course, i'm trying to sort out safety assessments so if you know anything let me know and i'll post what i find,

Hi Joe soap and welcome.  Looks like you've been lucky to have been trading for so long without safety assessments! Don't worry, you've come to the right place as anyone here who sells their products has gone through all the legal issues and give a helping hand.

All the information for the EU Cosmetics Directive can be found here:
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/cosmetics/html/consolidated_dir.htm

You need to compile a PIF or PIP (Product Information File or Product Information pack) for every product which includes recipes, statement of Good manufacturing practice, method of manufacture,  MSDS sheets for all raw ingredients, safety assessment, results of any tests and batch code information for each batch. It sounds daunting but if you do it electronically some of it is just a matter of copying files and changing the names eg for manufacture methods.

I won't give you too much info all at once, it can get a bit daunting but nothing that isn't do-able!  Grin

Hi Joe Soap, good to have you here. I second what ShaSha has said, having all the legal bits in place along with piblic liability insurance protects both you and your customer.

OT, hi Viv, hadn't seen you post, better go and formally say welcome  Smiley

Oh Joe, I said in my introductory thread that you should tell us more about yourself and here you already have!!

What county are you based in? Trying to get info on safety assessment in Ireland is a nightmare but, as pointed out to me a while back, if you're in the EU then it all still applies, no matter what.  I know the DHC doesn't do pre market testing (which I think is rubbish) but post market surveillance which is a little slipshod to my way of thinking.
