I think this is how I say hello, new topic, hopefully I am not messing up your beautiful forum site already.

I am writing from a rainy Devon pondering the world of soap, smell and colour. I am new to the soap world, a small fish in a big pond and I am a little lost so thank you ElaineJ for pointing me in this direction. Although new to soap I have always had my toes dipped in the world of arts (yes years of training and still no money - but thats ok). However I cannot stop using my hands to create things and it is what I love. I love knotting, strings, transparency, light and colour. My art and the jewellery I make often consist of these elements. So I guess it is no surprise that soap making appeals. Gosh I love the stuff. At present I use M&P but one day if I can get past the hoops I would love to make from scratch.

My aim at present is to create soaps with vibrant colours and beautiful smells. So that is the knowledge I am seeking, how best to create beautiful soap that looks colour defined yet smells a million dollars - and lasts. I want to sell these soaps, but at present they are only to be ornamental (yes more hoops to get through...)

Once again I have written an essay, perhaps i need to get out more, once it stops raining.

Hello Justine nice to see you here.

Things may be quiet until the evening but there's plenty for you to read (if it's still raining and you don't have anything urgent to do) until people arrive!

Ask as many questions as you like - someone will probably have the answers or know where to find them.

There are a couple of boards for crafts other than cosmetics and you can show off your stuff there.

Hello Justine from another(formerly) Devon lass currently trapped in Bucks.(So flat, no sea, no moors aaaargh)
I do m&p and you can definately create the sorts of things you are describing so beautifully.
Theres loads to browse through on here and ask loads of questions. They have certainly been wonderful to me.
Look forward to seeing more of you and your creations on here  :buttrf:

Welcome from a fellow newbie and M&Per too!! You'll find so much info on here, you're head will spin (but in a good way of course!).  Have you made some M&P already - do you have pics (I love pics!)

Thank you for making me feel welcome. Yes I have lots of questions brewing, trying to figure where best to ask them!? I never new my life would centre quite so much around plastic tubs, moulds, cocktail sticks large and small, and a constant 'ding ding' as the microwave ping's again. Yet it is all worth it.

I will supply pics as soon as i can, taking photo's is another habit of mine so no falling short there once I have something decent to show you all.

Finding it a bit hard to write at this moment, i have a little person attached to my other arm.

ta ta for now.

Hi Justine and welcome.
I was in Plymouth for 8 years before moving to where I am now (Epsom) so know the area quite well. Whereabouts are you?

Thanks everyone, I live in Exeter in Devon, and well I have to say the weekend has been glorious, not much soap making took place, hehe, but back on it today though. Hope everyone else got out in the sun, and not too burnt like naughty me.

Hi Justine,
A belated welcome, and hi, I am not far from you, in Somerset, also still practising and filling rooms with wonderful smells, about to take it further with more training etc. It's a very compulsive thing to do, and this forum is very friendly and ever so helpful. I feel I am in very good company here......

I love Devon, whereabouts are you? I was hoping to move further your way, one day maybe, but for now Somerset is L___! I was raised near the sea and it is one of my great loves.....

See you around I hope
