This is where I am this weekend (3 dayer). The venue is the local pub function room and I'm wondering just how busy will it get? Organiser said she couln't book the village hall as someone had beaten her to it selling tea and cake. It's the well dressings week so it could be quite busy but I'm not sure wether the pub will be. I'd better not visit the bar-who know what may happen......................!!! Wink
I'ts only my 2nd fair and I am bricking it, lol.
Sorry I've not been around much but I am thinking of you all.....just busy wrapping, cutting, sticking, planning, thinking, making soap etc. All in a soap makers life, eh!

Wish me luck & I will keep you posted

Best of luck with it and take pics of your stall.  It'll be great and you'll sell loads!

Thanks girls, yes I hope it's a good one & I am very embarrassed about my photograph phobia. Must take it up with my mum and dad.....find out if I was attacked by one as a kid. Grin

It was absolutely blummin' awful. One to put down to experience I think.
The fair was held in a pub on a busy main road on the outskirts of Tissington Village itself......but the villagers of Tissington had their own local produce marquee on a field in the main village. Competition.

On the other hand I met some lovely folks and had a giggle. I have to say I did sit there with my head in my hands a few times at the lack of customers. The event organiser charges 50p entrance fee on the door. This was definately putting folk off.

It was a three dayer and a few stall holders packed up on day two saying it wasn't worth their while. I sat there for the duration with a flask of tea and some pub chips, lol.

I have since done a fair at Edale Country day which went very well considering it was torrential rain from 1pm.I am really into this fair lark, I love it!!

Glad you're liking the fair scene.

Can't remember what you're calling yourself - or have you never told us.

Good to hear you had a good one Jane. Some do sound good on paper but turn out awful (I've done a few of those). I'm still undecided on wether I like doing fairs, it's so personal when you've made all the stuff and if you hear someone say they don't like something.
Best of luck with your next one  :buttrf:

I've had some hilarious reactions to my soaps at times. I cant help it....I giggle to myself. I love it when people see what I am selling and seem to take  two steps back and say "oooh I can't go near smelly soaps they make me sneeze".

I've had people turn their noses up at stuff when they smell it Corrie but I don't let it bother me If I have confidence in the product........and as long as there are a ratio of peolpe saying how lovely it is then I don't care. We can't please 'em all, can we?

How many people did you get saying that they thought it was either cheese or fudge and
 then think themselves very funny

and how many said they have to use  'real' (cr....ap)  soap supermarket soap or natural soap from L....sh because they have very sensitive skin?

Jane - Hmmm yep you cant win em all, nor can you please everyone...onwards & upwards as they say Cheesy.

Loretta - I can safely say I get this all the time...cheese  Rant  Bawl is the absolute winner on my stall.  Dont get me started on the "NATURAL" soap thing.

Where I used to live in Lincolnshire I was so frustrated with all the comments & sniggering I made a sign.......

Those with a HIGH I.Q this is a SOAP STALL
                                                  for those with a

                                                 This a CHEESE STALL
