Hi All...

Well I'm the new kid on the block!  Wink

My name's Ann-Marie and I live in South Wales - share a home with the husband, four kids, dogs, cat, bunny and a few gerbils thrown in for good measure...

Chaos and mayhem is probably a good description... Cheesy

I started making candles initially as gifts for friends and family - then took the big step and turned it into a business...  Decided to add bath and body products more recently and went from the intricacies of wick testing to the minefield of safety assessments...

I've always been wary of what we put on our skin as my one lad has eczema and my husband Lee has had a kidney transplant and his drug regime makes him very sensitive to oodles of things...

The main driving force though is that my eldest boy is disabled with a condition which causes multiple growths and seeing bits of research starting to pop up linking body products with potentially carcinogenic ingredients really made me sit up and take a bit more notice of ingredient labels - much to my dismay when I started actually researching what they all were...

So a love of cold process soap and the qualities of oils was born...  Nothing I like more than spending time researching different oils and then getting my alchemist hat on and getting to work concocting...  Hubble Bubble, Toil and Trouble...  Tongue

Anyway - one thing I'm definitely good at is talking people to sleep... Shocked

So back to the main point I was trying to make and that's just to say - Hello and I'm looking forward to getting to meet you all !

Croeso Anne Marie

You've quite a family to take care of there.

There are a few aromatherapists around who can help with advice on the oils (if you need it) and a candlemaker or two. (well if you've read a few topics you'll have found that out).

There's a very good database of recipes and other information and Helen is always adding to it - I doubt she'll ever come to an end.

Hello Ann Marie,

A big warm welcome to the forum!!  Grin

Your website is lovely and I love the banner.  You make candles too?  Emmag makes candles (lincolnshire candle bakery).  Maybe we need to think about making some room for candle makers on the forum.  Let me know if there is anyway I can adapt Fresholi to cater to candle makers (and you Emma).  Maybe another section in the main site.  You just yell if you think of anything - I'm all ears  Grin

You sound like you have had an awful lot to deal with.  I wonder if you ever rustle something up in your cauldron for yourself though (hmmm....) lol

Well I very much look forward to chatting with you around the boards and as Elaine says, I'm always adding to the main site and she's probably right, I don't think I'll ever stop.  If you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to let me know  Wink

Thanks for introducing yourself and again, a big warm welcome from me  Grin

Hi Anne-Marie,

Welcome to the forum.  I've only been here a few days but it is a nice friendly place Smiley

Like you, I became a "sad label reader" when I started making my own products and I like nothing better than trawling the cosmetic shelves seeing what awful stuff is in the products most people slap on themselves!  Quite scary really, but don't you learn quickly when you start looking at what each ingredient does?!
