Hi everyone  just introducing myself to everyone.    My name is Maureen and I have been making soaps for about 4 years now in my spare time although not done very much for past year or so but this year I am really looking forward to giving more time to establishing the business as I really do love my soapmaking.    I have had a great time looking at the members gallery and all the wonderful soap creations - just really inspired me to keep going.
I invested in a new laser colour printer before Christmas and wondered if anyone can give me some help as to the best labels and software to use as I want to produce the cigar type labels for my soaps and wondered what everyone else used and best recommendations to produce great looking labels.   Also any advice for general labels would be great.    Look forward to hearing from you all :-)

Hi Maureen,

Welcome to the forum.  It is lovely to hear that have been inspired to keep going after looking through the galleries, there are some lovely products aren't there  Smiley

Regarding your labels, there is a business board and labels have been discussed quite a few times around here.  Have a look through some of the threads Maureen and if you can't find what you are looking for, pop a post on that board also, there more you post, the more boards will open up to you that you can't quite see at the moment.

Welcome again and I look forward to hearing more about your soapmaking  :buttrf:

HP Soap is NOT rough and soft!

Hello Maureen - welcome in.

I use a colour laser - goodly finish on prints; for my soap bands I use a parchment look paper and set them up in four columns, landscape in a simple graphics program (sorry can't help you there as I use a rather obscure OS/platform for graphics) then cut with a Fiskars Edgemaster with the deckle blade (irregular wavey edge)

Hi Helen and Elaine

Thank you so much for your quick responses and making me feel so welcome.    Someone mentioned your site to me around 6 months ago at one of Melinda's soap making courses and whilst I had visited and looked around I never joined the forum but so wish I had then.    I have been having such a great time looking around - its all so wonderful  and really inspiring me to keep things moving - I have posted my question in the packaging section so hopefully someone can help with my query.
All the best,
M.

Thanks once again to you all for the warm welcome.    Yes Keilly I do remember meeting you on the liquid soap course - I was one of Melinda's helpers that day - I will post some pictures very very soon - after looking at the gallery I am thinking I should take some time off work soon to let my creative juices flow  :buttrf:

Hello Maureen, welcome, i'm sure you would enjoy it here just like we all do. on printers, i personally would suggest stay away from HP products, their quality has deteriorated a lot recently, i have 2 different types and they are such a  shame.
