Hello All!I'm mum to two little ones,My girl is 6 & my boy 4.He's suffered mildly for about a year with exzema on his shins & back, but just lately it has worsened quite severely to the point of needing steroids to clear it!I really hated putting them in his system but it went from bad to worse almost overnight & I feared it getting even worse.Anyway, you were reccomended to me for advice & products,so I guess the question is "what would you suggest"?!I've thankfully struck gold with a DR that is MORE than happy that I'm wanting to go down the natural route & not depend on chemical based creams, but as I'm not too clued up with exzema would really appreciate a shove in the right direction.Cheers.x

HP Soap is NOT rough and soft!

Hello Fairymum, welcome to the forum.

I can't help you directly, but there are some here who can - either with advice or with their own experiences and products which they've found helpful.

Eczema's been discussed a few times - try the search facility and see what comes up while you're waiting for a direct answer.

Thankyou Elaine.I had tried a search earlier, but due to my poor spelling nothing came up!! ::)I've since used the dictionary & come up with a few hits!
Just wanted to give a couple of other bits of relevant info..His dad suffers if he has too much dairy,so we're trying a dairy free diet for a while. Also his dad is allergic to Brazils & Walnuts so I'd want to steer clear of anything with any of these ingredients.
Also,am I posting this in the most appropriate place?

Re "appropriate place" - a bit difficult to separate an intro duction and a request for advice.

Do you want to make stuff yourself, have advice on what to look for or buy from people here?

Try asking a question or two in General Discussion for starters.

Hello Fairymum,

Welcome to the forum  Smiley  Are you looking for a finished product?  If so, it might be worth posting to the customer request board  Wink  However, if you are looking to make something yourself, like EJ said, there has been a number of discussions on eczema and using the search box on the left of the forum might pull up some of the previous discussions.

The problem with eczema, there can be so many causes (which you have obviously taken into account and considered this from a holistic standpoint).  Try typing 'eczema' into the search box  Wink

Hello & welcome.
I suffered with eczema until I was 40 & my grand daughter developed it but since I have stopped using commercial soaps etc my eczema has cleared up as has my grand daughters.
Try not to have the house to hot this always made me itch.
As the others have said you can get more info from other threads.
Good luck

Hi Fairymum
I started making soaps nearly 3 years ago as my daughter was born with eczema and I had the first 2 years of smothering her with steroid creams - she has a 15 year old half sister and after putting steroid creams all over herself for all those years her skin has become hard, scaly and patchy...I didn't want my little one's skin to go the same way! So...I had a go at making soap and wanted to ultimately make everything for her that didn't have chemicals in! So after nearly 3 years of making soaps, balms, creams and bath stuff - I now am on top of her eczema - She has a grass pollen allergy that flares it up in the summer months, so antihistamines help control it through the summer but I also sooth her skin with natural soaps and creams with healing ingredients when it does flare up! Since making my own stuff I have noticed a difference in my own skin - my hands & skin are never dry, and I have completely changed the way I look at commercial products now! Hope this helps and welcome to a most fabulous forum!!  :buttrf:

Hi Fairymum
I hope you find something that helps. Either buying it from someone here or making it yourself. I know how debilitating skin conditions can be, either just people staring on the itch that goes with it. Best of luck with your quest. If you're interested I make a chickweed & evening primrose soap, both are said to be good for exzema and psoriasis  Smiley

Welcome Fairymum

Hope you enjoy it here.

I get eczema occasionally too and since making my own soaps I don't suffer quite so much and I definitely don't need to use moisturiser like I used to.

Hi Fairymum
I make a balm for my 3 yr old with  excema ,with chamomile roman ess oil, Lavender ess oil, beeswax and sweet almond oil , it works well on nappy rash as well.
It is very greasy and rich, but that seems to suit his skin well

Sorry all,I've not been on pretty much since initial post...cheers for all your replies.& Michaela I can't spell it either!>>which is why when I searched I came up with nothing!!
He's almost clear at present thanks to steroids & aqueous cream....neither of which I want to continue to use on a regular basis...couldn't believe that aqueous cream contains SLS.Anyway I'm gonna pop a post on the general chat board & also have a proper look around the shop...bearing in mind all the pointers you've all given. Thanks again.x
