One of Jones' friends had flash burns to his hands (back of)  four weeks ago - there was blistering but not all the layers of skin were "removed" - I haven't seen them.

Dressings have been off for two weeks now and all that has been prescribed is E45 cream.

The problem he has is that the skin is so fragile that brushing against the wall or putting his hands into his pockets can pull some skin off or set off weeping.

Does anyone make anything which can help please? (I was wondering about some of Chrissie's products!!)

Or know of a product?

I was also wondering about cotton or silk gloves (can get latter from a climbing or bikers' shop).

Elaine, if you're not against using Emu Oil, then I do an Emu Balm that works wonders on pain, scars, burns, etc.

Would a spray product help? I was thinking of something like a spray-on aloe vera product. My mum had one in Australia after an op where the skin was too fragile to touch.

That sounds really painful.   I would go for Aloe Vera, Lavender & Myrrh.  Myrrh is very good for weaping skin and Lavender is generally healing and soothing -  Calendula could also be added into the mix.  It would be easy to make a spray so you don't have to touch the skin.  Lavender & Myrrh in the form of hydrosols are very gentle, or alternatively small quantites of the EO's could be used.

Thanks Chrissie but I cna't make up a spray - all I have of those are Lavender and Myrrh EO and Calendula infused oil.

Have you got a lotion base to put those in?  That would be the next best thing.

This may be well late, but I would strongly recommend getting some raw honey and putting these on bandages.  Honey is amazing for burns, as the bee propolis doesn't allow bacteria to build up, as it's bacterial reactions which cause the skin to pucker and scar.  I applied this quite liberally to a friend of mine who had severe burns on his face from a radiator, and after a month he only had a very small scar on his chin and across the cheek.

If it's on his hands, then yes, agreed, put some gloves on after applying a liberal amount of honey.  If it's  possible to get manuka honey from New zealand, then more the better.

Thanks SG - but I doubt he'd put up with sticky honey on his hands, even with gloves on!

Oh I'm sure...spouse got a burn a few months back which was very nasty, and he whinged for a week or two about how slow it was healing, yet it took another week before I could convince him to use the honey underneath a plaster.  Finally, he did relent, and the burn has healed completely, no scarring.
