Hello!

My (real) name is Shelley and I am taking a tentative step into making soap for the first time (hoping to eventually make other things as well)  Grin

I live in the north west of England, by the sea; with my husband, 2 dogs, 4 chickens and 3 rabbits and our veg patch.

The idea of soap making came to me as a Christmas present idea, so I purchased a melt & pour kit then realised that I needed essential oils etc for "flavourings"... I haven't even made any soap yet but have managed to buy 3 soap moulds from eBay  Roll Eyes and I'm now trying to decide what to put in the soap, and have realised that I can make loads of things for presents, but for me too!

Expect lots of "newbie" type questions from me!  angel

HP Soap is NOT rough and soft!

Hello Shelley,

There are quite a few chook bods here.

Sue G makes some really lovely MP soaps and I'm in the process of re-thinking my MP range so may have some spare moulds.

You can put a certain amount of oils/butters in MP soap - so you can make bathmelts to match if you want - there's loads of info in Resources on the Fresholi site (you need to log in to see some of them).

Ask anything you like - there's bound to be someone with an answer, but watch out for thread hi-jackers!

Hi Shelley, welcome! I only do CP soap, so probably won't be much help to you to start with, but there are plenty of others who do make m&p and who will be happy to help.

CP soap sounded too chemistry-based and complicated for me to attempt as a first-timer!  Grin

Hiya Shelley,

A very warm welcome to the forum.  Ooh, it sounds like you are all ready to go and I'm sure, if you hang around with these ladies (who are not at all addicted in any way shape or form  Roll Eyes) you will be sooooo wanting to get going.

I'm not a soaper (more lotions and potions) but have tried a bit of each.  I can understand your reasons for feeling that way about CP but I have to say, of all the methods I have tried, M&P I find the most technically tricky (but oh, can some wonderful effects be achieved with it  :buttrf:).

Good to have you here and I look forward to chatting with you around the boards  Smiley

Oh, don't get me started!!  I'm addicted to coconut flavour things, and am working up the courage to find out how to make coconut body butter (like the BS does) and coconut soap (and shampoo etc)  Tongue

Hi Shelley, you've come to the right place. There's a great amount of experience here in all things handmade. I started with M&P but soon gave it up in preference of CP & HP. It is a little scary at first but you soon get over that  Wink Then you can look forward to a house full of soap (Ido mean that), mine are in cupboards, drawers, everywhere!

Pst........Fresholites. Anyone want a bet on how long till Shelley makes CP soap?  :mwaha:
