Hi,

Today, one of the members suggested that the community may be strengthened by putting up photos of yourself, kind of like a face to the name, sort of thing.  I thought it was a great idea although, as I explained to the member, I may need to have some of those professional jobbies done before I plastered my mush over the site, lol.

It could form a separate gallery; name, photo, and a little intro to you and what you do/make & any special links you would like to include?  It can be public or private.  For now I'd just like your initial thoughts.   Wink

I just tried adding a pic (not of me) to my profile info but had the message that the upload directory was not writable so the avatar insert would not work.

(don't know if it's supposed to be like this but in the profile editing pages it looks as though a pic can be uploaded, I thought it could be an alternative option to a gallery)

That's a good idea Elaine.  Kestrel is just having a bit of a stress about a little IT matter at the mo' - well it's rather a big matter so I'll approach him with this when things are a little quieter on the Western Front, lol.

But it would be good!  Wink

I've just thought also that because they'd be only little pics it would save on webspace for galleries etc.

Hi all,

You can now upload a photo of yourself (if you wish to of course) as an avater so now we can put a face to the name!

Mine will be along soon (just need to have a little 'work' done first before the pro-style photo shoot, lol.  Not really, I'll dig one out from somewhere... save a copy & print it if you wish so you too can keep the flys out of your bathroom!  Grin

I saw the announcement before I scrolled down here!!

Don't have a photie ATM so I'll put my logo; "briallen" is Welsh for "primrose" which was my nickname in scool (smutty joke in the third form, completely forgotten by the time I was in senior sixth and everyone down to the first formers knew me as "Prim" - I doubt whether some of the little'uns knew my real name).

Sorry -  went for a wander and to make a Kentucky Coffee (as in "Gaelic" but with Bourbon instead of Scotch) 'cos there was some cream left over after raspberries and cream.

From the top menu click on profile.

Then from the side menu click on "froum profile information".

You then have the option to select from an existing set, a website or your hard drive.

Mine is "one I made earlier" a JPEG (.jpg) file of 80 pixels by 80 pixels and 100dpi.

It may not be necessary to reduce your file to the appropriate dimensions and resolution - some avatar upload facilities do this for you but I'd already made this for Skype, which requires the pic to be of a specific size.

If you're not sure how to resize your photo email it to me (addy in my profile) and I'll do the necessary and send it back.

I've still got to do mine!

Kestral introduced himself (finally) last night (see intros, he's a fine figure of a man as you will see from his avatar).  If you have any techy questions, put it to him, he's a bit of a Mr Fixit and a very important part of the Fresholi equation (but don't tell him I said that, wouldn't want his head getting too big, lol).  Grin
