Morning, lovely cosmeholics. Im new on here, and would like a little help. I am opening a shop, dealing with soap, candles and handmade products. I want the shop to be as natural as i can possibly be. Does any one have any web pages or recipes, with no additives, or natural additives in. I have been on numerous sites, like SK and the likes for recipes, I would really like a foot cream or salve. If any one has any ideas then this would be great. thanks for reading, nicola.

This is probably not what you want to hear but I think that research and understanding of ingredients is important. Then make tests of various products until you find something that you are pleased with. When you have a range of products you get them safety assessed and challenge tested (if it contains water) and you are good to go. So with other words it may take some time before it is ready for the store.

I Have to agree with Eva , as a new soaper myself you need to look into recipes and the legal side of soaping, if you are in the UK or EU there are alot of legalities that need to be taken care of before you can even contemplate selling. Safety assesments and getting that recipe just right take time, learning to color and scent the natural way also takes time. So in general its time to play and mess about and fill your house with goodies for your self and family before you perfect that recipe. Keep posting and as you do more and more on the forum will be available to you.

welcome to the board. But sorry to say, that a lot of us here sell our products as well, so wouldn't really want to give our recipes to a stranger. Also it isn't quite so easy to just mix and go. Plenty of regulations to look out for as Eva has already mentioned and depending on where you are based.

If you want to start developing your own products and find a place where you can find help along the way while you are experimenting, you have found the right forum.

As MP says , some of our recipes have taken a long time to tweek , formulate and get perfect, however there are some very good beginner books out there. Just search on amazon for soap making etc , Also have a look on you tube . Along with the Safety assesments dont forget your insurance . There are some reciepes on the main forum , but there are plenty on the net .

Hi Nicola. I echo what the others have said. You need to research your ingredients and learn how to make the products. You have to have an assessment to make you legal. Are you making your own products already?

hi, yes, i live in england. i have all my assessments form cosmetic safety assessments.com. They are very reasonable, you get your own safety advisor, if you have questions or problems. Alot of companies, will only allow you to buy their products of them, and you have to renew yearly, with this you can buy from anywhere in the uk and it is for life, hope that helps
