Hi everyone,

I am 34 and I live in London. I have been browsing this forum for a few days or more, and finally 17hrs later I decided to introduce myself, as it is probably going to take me another 17hrs to get thru the other half of it  Shocked

I have to say firstly, you all seem like a lovely friendly bunch, and you are all very inspirational. It is so lovely to see so many people actively trading, all helping eachother out, that is just lovely!!

I am very interested in making soaps and other cosmetics as something to do from home and be able to do at crafts fairs. It will be something for me to do and something I think I will really enjoy.

I used to make cakes for fun, but they are few and far between as I only do occassions (Wedding & Christmas) for friends and family really.  I would have loved to have been able to take that further, but with so much red tape it is all too much hard work when you have a family IMO....it would be sods law that l had the health inspector at the door after my kiddies have had their fun in the kitchen/dining area or something. So something else I have not yet tried but am very interested in, is cosmetics. So I thought I would do my research and see if I enjoy that as much as my cakes as I can be as creative in this area too?

So here I am, a complete beginnner wanting to get a little craft stall by this time next year after much experimenting. I am not thinking it is going to be easy to master at all, so I am trying to do as much research as possible and hope to start my first lot of recipes (from books) in the New year and take it from there  But if actually doing this craft is as exciting as reading about it, then I will be well away. It was actually an idea I toyed with back in 2008 but I found out I was pregnant, so it stopped there. But here I am again, ready to do all it takes to give this a fair crack of the whip.

I hope to get to know you all & to be a regular

 have a great day

Welcome! Glad you're enjoying the reading, I still go back and find old posts I'd forgotten about or never managed to read.

Two things to note (and if you were studying, you'll already know) ... we love pics so when you do make something, you have to post a pic... and, the more you post, the more boards open up for you.

What sort of things were you interested in making?

Welcome, but if you think it will only take you 17 hours.....

I am sure you will have a great time. Honey appears to be slipping though, she usually tells you that she insists on photos.

Hello TJ, welcome aboard.

You're going to have lots of fun and possibly a few tears as you progress along the soapy road (your family and friends are going to love you for the free handouts!).

Hi TJ
Welcome, it's rather cosy and friendly here, especially if you bring cake and photos!  Soap and potion making is a bit like chocolate, once you get a taste of it, it's hard to leave it alone.  And rather yummy!
Enjoy!

Deborah
