candles. At the fair yesterday, was a stall selling candles which has been poured into china cups and sold with the saucers and side plates. Ok, they were poured very badly but they flew out.

I supply soap cupcakes to someone who makes those and she sells them as a set but hers are beautiful, she goes round the junk shops and charity shops and buys old fashioned bone china

I have tried that when someone requested it. But didnt pursue it because with old bone china cups however beautiful or expensive originally I cant test the container. What if it had a slight flaw in it I couldnt see amnd it cracked and wax went everywhere and then caught fire. Thats your insurance cover out the window for starters.

 They do look lovely though.

It would have to be new cups and how often do you find really pretty ones nowadays,

Absolutely right Michelle - candle-making must be a nightmare for pre-thinking everything and insurance. I'm saving it for old age and poverty...think that might be coming sooner than I thought though  Grin

Ooh Michelle, that's a really good point, never thought of that. They don't fit with my brand so I wasn't planning on doing them anyway. I've seen them in a few places too. Pretty.

I love them, surprise surprise but good point made about the insurance.

In a department store near me, they sell lovely cups and saucers which would make the cutest candles.  Santa is bringing me a candle making kit so I might indulge myself a little... they're only €2 for the cup & saucer together.

If you flick the cup and it has a nice ring, it is not cracked, but it is a good point about the insurance.

There is also a possibility of new regulations coming in for candles which may affect the hobby chandler. Things like having to senda candle to the labs to test, burn time, heat and throw.

Personally Im sticking to my thick Ikea glasses and dedicated candle jars and they are pretty too.

oh god, not more red tape........lovley candles btw. I use ikea glass containers for mine!

The first jar is aspecial candle jar and surprisingly expensive but like Retro has shown Ikea glasses are good and sturdy and the candles look lovely in them.

I have to use double the amount of colour chips recommended to get the colour that deep. (It's because I use Ecosoya)

I use ecosoy too, but it suits me as I like making pastelly coloured things. Im not very good at making bright lol
