Hi just would like to know from you lovely lot :mwaha:, how did you come with your name of your own company? Did you have one and then changed your mind for another and again and again? :mwaha:

Also, logo design - did you use an online company to design this for you? if so who can you recommend (if you dont mind me asking for this bit)

cheers Lou :buttrf:

The name is really hard. I ended up with the name I first thought of! I just wrote down ideas in a book whenever I thought of something. (A bit like naming a baby I suppose).

I got someone I found on Etsy to design my logo for me. I had tried people based in the UK. One did not get back to me, and the other just did not seem to understand what I wanted. The girl in the US was brilliant. It cost about £80 though, but I think it was worth it.

I brainstormed a big list of words, and my name (Fleur de Lune) popped out and was the obvious winner.

My logo was designed by Chas (friend of Janie's), and Bonnita did my labels, and has done the labels of many people on this site! pm me for their contact info

Chas did my logo too, and it was one of the things Vogue etc really liked about our branding and helped them investigate us further  Smiley

The name was thought up during a brainstorming session 2 years ago, was the only one we all completely loved (tbh I can't now remember any of the other options) but we all love mythology and it fitted well with where we wanted to go with the company Smiley

I found coming up with the name & logo incredibly difficult. In the end I usd my own name for the business, on the suggestion of a few other people. I came up with the logo idea myself with a little help from family, but my brother actually put it together (it all needs re-doing now really including the website, my brother says himself it isn't up to scratch as he can do a lot better now he's more experienced.)

Before that I tried a graphic designer on Folksy to make me a logo, but she wasn't what I expected, I thought she would input some creativity herself, but basically she wanted me to say exactly what i wanted, ie design the logo myself, and for her to just make it. But I was paying someone to help me 'cos I'm a bit design-challenged!
I think at the same time as that, Bonnita joined the forum, and I wished I'd used her as it seems she has done a great job for some others here.

I think brainstorming loads of words/ideas is a good way, just scribble everything down and hopefully you can come up with something that way.

After a some initial chop and changing, we settled on one that promotes us as an Island soap co, with a mystical edge to it, because of the rich tapestry of mythology and legend that Anglesey has. Our logo was created by my youngest daughter who has an artistic streak! it's an Island Landmark "the Llanddwyn Lighthouse" which is said to be the resting place of "St Dwynwen" patron saint of Welsh lovers, from the Mabinogion Stories. It was also the Film Set for the Movie "Half Light" with Demi Moor. So nothing spent, just our own creative expression of our little company, simple, but I like it  Smiley

Oh dear, I didn't open a company for ages because I didn't know what name to choose...
I didn't want anything too girly so I ended up with choosing something completely not
related to Body products which is not ideal either.  Undecided
So, I am not completely happy yet.

I designed my logo myself. How I came up with it?
I had a look at my abilities with adobe illustrator and used everything I had.  :mwaha:

I'm a pig, I like cake and chocolate and naughty sweet things, and Delectable just popped into my head one afternoon when I was thinking about absolutely nothing. Brainstorming did not help me!

THIS is the company I used on mine.  They asked me a bunch of questions about how I saw my company, what elements I might like to have in the logo, what the company name was and if I had a tag line.  From that they gave me 5 options and I chose one.  From there we fine tuned it.  Great service and wonderful work! :buttrf:
