Title: Noob from London :) Post by: Alphya on October 04, 2010, 02:37:41 AM Hi all,
even though I've posted on a few topics already, I thought I'd put something here! My name is Kelly, I'm from sunny London, and I've been interested in making my own bath products and cosmetics ever since I randomly bought a book called 'Beauty Magic - 101 Recipes, Spells and Secrets'. From there, I went hunting down some basic ingredients, and stumbled upon GF. I then found SB and Aromantics, and spent far too much money. I found some good recipes, and made my own recipe folder [before actually trying anything out ::) - I like to be organised..]. So far, I've made Sweet Cherry lip balm, bath milk with ground oatmeal and Rose Otto EO, bath salts with Patchouli leaves and Patchouli EO, and I'm in the process [yep, right this minute] of making some whipped Shea with Caramel FO, it's currently in the freezer ;D I've just paid to do the basics course by Aromantics, which I'll be doing in November. I've been into herbs and herbal medicine for a while, and making healing creams really appeals to me. I'm just looking to make things for friends and family, but in the future, who knows? :) Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: halfabubbleoffplumb on October 04, 2010, 05:20:55 AM Welcome, Kelly - you'll have great fun here. :buttrf:

Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Honey on October 04, 2010, 10:14:55 AM Welcome Kelly!
Polly, we don't really bite.. we just nibble a bit :mwaha: My hubs is also from London (NW) but we live in Ireland (until we make millions and then we're living in the sun). Two things to note here - you HAVE to post pictures, you will be flogged otherwise ... and the more you post, the more boards will open up for you and the more info you'll have at your fingertips. I was a little :o that you bought Rose Otto EO ... eek that must've been pricey and then some!! Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Eva on October 04, 2010, 11:09:39 AM Hi and welcome! :buttrf:

I've already found LOTS of helpful information, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more. madpiano - I'm in SE too! Lewisham ;) Honey - The Rose Otto is a 5% dilute, but it still cost me £6! It smells lovely though. :) Because I'm afraid of being bitten [;)], I've taken pics of what I've made so far, I'll stick them up in Show & Tell :D Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Honey on October 04, 2010, 11:50:06 PM Ah, it would only have been a nibbling really, you'd hardly have felt it :mwaha:
Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Alphya on October 04, 2010, 11:54:16 PM I'm sure :mwaha:
I can see how you guys here love pictures, so I'll make every effort to take pics of everything I make. It'll be a good record of my progress too :) Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Honey on October 04, 2010, 11:58:24 PM Good, love when people follow the rules :D My hubs still laughs at me when I take pics of things, he thinks we're mostly barking mad here!

Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Honey on October 05, 2010, 12:01:43 AM Only thing that's barking about me is my cough at the moment.
Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Alphya on October 05, 2010, 12:21:06 AM My OH is already well aware that I'm barking. He is quite surprised that I've actually *made* stuff though.
I'm a typical Aries.. I love starting new projects, but never quite make any headway with them. So far it's been bead-crafting, cross stitch, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, card making, and many more things besides. I tend to have a flush of 'OMG I have to try that!', then I buy a heap of stuff, and once the initial OMG has passed, it all ends up in a box somewhere ;D This hobby is for keeps though! I've always liked handmade bath and beauty products, it's lovely to use something that has had so much love and effort put into it. I'll still buy products from other people [and L___..], because it's nice to support them :) Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Alphya on October 05, 2010, 12:22:33 AM Only thing that's barking about me is my cough at the moment. Get some hot water with honey and lemon down ya! Feel better soon :buttrf: Title: Re: Noob from London :) Post by: Ollieblue on October 05, 2010, 12:48:12 AM Welcome :)
