I'm a total novice soap maker, I've made four batches now and I'm hooked! I can feel a change of direction coming on. book.. today I've made a batch just using the lye calculator iphone app, so no idea what that will turn out like! A lot of the recipes in the book seem to use animal fats or palm oil, which I don't want to use, so I've gone for olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, with a small amount of shea and s.almond oil. It records the day that you create your recipe and then you can also add notes on how it turns out, or your method etc.
It only calculates in ounces though, so if you're looking for more precise measuring in grams, it wont be any good... although as I'm learning, if you superfat there's a little bit of room for lye error! It calculates superfatting as well. It was £2.99. Think it's handy to have on your phone in the kitchen. Title: Re: Hello!
