Title: Introduction Post by: Susie on July 22, 2010, 08:02:10 PM Hi everyone! (couldn't think of a snappy title, sorry :mwaha:. And I must say, I love any forum that has a Muttley icon. I'll try not to wear it out ;))
I'm Susie, I've made two batches of soap, and I'm officially converted. I shall be making it forever. I discovered this forum because I've bought things from fresholi, and lo, it has a forum attached! I'm aiming to sell soap and some other bits when I've had a bit more practice, but for the moment I'm enjoying experimenting with things (and I don't think my friends and family have reached saturation point yet. Not quite, anyway.) I'm looking forward to having a good poke round and meeting people, it looks like there's some really useful things on here. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing if anyone makes liquid soap because I bought a book about it recently and it makes it look about as easy as splitting the atom in your kitchen with only a microwave and a pyrex jug. Hopefully I'm going to discover it is actually possible! Anyway, yes, so, hello everyone, look forward to meeting you :buttrf: Title: Re: Introduction Post by: EJ on July 22, 2010, 08:16:42 PM Hello Susie, welcome aboard.
Nobody's going to argue with you about the addictive aspect of soapmaking (but there are a few here who don't make soap). Have you discovered Resources - if you log in to the main site you see more items in there than if you're not logged in. Title: Re: Introduction Post by: Nicola J on July 22, 2010, 08:55:57 PM Surely this wonderful forum can convert you also to the dark arts of creams, balms, lotions...! Welcome! :hi:
Title: Re: Introduction Post by: Susie on July 22, 2010, 10:34:36 PM I don't know why, but I'm getting this strange internal voice telling me this forum likes to see pictures? Could I be psychic? ??? :mwaha:
I haven't got any good ones of the stuff I've made so far - this was my First Ever Soap (http://uselessbeautydesigns.blogspot.com/2010/05/homemade-soap.html) - (sorry it's a blog link, I've deleted the pic from my camera now). I'll certainly be boring you with pics of the stuff I do from now on. And yes you most definitely can convert me to the dark arts of creams etc. I've actually spent today making some solid perfume, sugar scrub and whipped shea. One of the solid perfumes is recognisably perfume, the other smells just like emulsion paint so I think kudos to me because if I'd actually tried to do that I wouldn't have been able to. Perhaps I'll call it Parfum de Dulux. Title: Re: Introduction Post by: madpiano on July 22, 2010, 10:38:12 PM :mwaha: :mwaha: :mwaha: Parfum de Dulux :mwaha: :mwaha: :mwaha:

Hmm parfum de dulux... there's probably a market for it out there you know!! :mwaha: Title: Re: Introduction Post by: lyndsayfink on August 02, 2010, 09:38:27 PM Hello!
That's funny with the dulux scent, I'm new to making things and I always seem to end up with at least one thing that smells a bit peculiar! So far I've not made anything that is truly awful but I find myself sniffing things over and over, thinking "hmmm" and the saying "no it's ok" and then sniffing it again and wondering :-\ Lets hope for a fragrant future!!! Title: Re: Introduction Post by: Lissi on August 03, 2010, 09:45:29 PM Hello Susie,
My sister would actually love the dulux scent! If you can make one that smells of petrol too she'll be a customer for life! ;D Title: Re: Introduction Post by: Suzanne on August 03, 2010, 09:51:03 PM My sister would actually love the dulux scent! If you can make one that smells of petrol too she'll be a customer for life! Eh? Title: Re: Introduction Post by: nakedtruthbeauty on August 03, 2010, 10:08:01 PM Ooh, missed this thread somehow, welcome! Where in Cambridge are you, I spent my teens in Cambs. I was at Hills Rd Sixth Form and before that Linton Village College. :buttrf:
Title: Re: Introduction Post by: Susie on August 05, 2010, 10:27:43 PM Hello, back from holiday this week and slow catching up so just saw this question! I'm in Arbury. I came here after Uni and we got trapped here by my partner's mad obscure job (just joking, I love Cambridge :buttrf:)
My latest scent smells like something you would get from the reduced shelf of the pound shop, but at least it smells like perfume. I'm counting that a success. Today Parfum de Pound Shop, tomorrow the world, look out Jo Malone. Title: Re: Introduction Post by: polly on August 06, 2010, 06:28:38 AM :mwaha: :mwaha:
