Title: Can Micas be used in candles? Post by: SoapByTheSlice on January 29, 2010, 11:12:33 AM Okay, I havn't a clue about candles, or how to make them (I've tried, and it was a HUGE disaster!!) Aaaanyway, please can someone tell me if micas can be used to colour candles?

As the are a powder, it will not burn off and will clog the wick either causing the flame to go out or flare up uncontrolably.

Post by: Vicky on February 14, 2010, 01:10:52 AM I don't think it would work brushing the mica around the inside of the jar, once you poured the wax at the pouring temperature it will be hot enough to disperse in to the wax, and although it might not be enough to clog the wick i wouldn't take the change.
Your best just lightly brushing the mica on to the surface of the finished candle, thats what i do on a few pillar candles that have a lot of detail on them, so that the mica picks up the detail and makes it stand out. |
