Title: Hello! Post by: Jaq on January 22, 2010, 08:12:49 PM Hellooo! I'm Jaq, a lampwork beadmaker by day, dipping my toe into balms and creams. I am hoping to make something specifically for beadmakers burns or tattoo's as we call them :D ( just really small burns you sometimes get when a fragment of hot glass comes your way) and also something for mild rosacea. I've learned so much from this site, and I must just add I love ordering from Helen, such fab service, and i don't just mean the products ;)

I have just taken a quick look at your website. The beads are gorgeous!! If you start making them to fit a Pandora bracelet, I will certainly be buying. (Love the Monserrat) Title: Re: Hello! Post by: JANE MALCOLM on January 22, 2010, 08:55:58 PM welcome jaq x
Title: Re: Hello! Post by: Jaq on January 22, 2010, 08:59:04 PM Thankyou! I do make them for Pandora, but they are order only, ie just the same as the ones on the website ( if you see one you like or want something similar) but if you want one with the bigger hole for the pandora I can do them is what I'm trying to say lol! I'v been making them from scratch for 3 years now but I had to decide early on which bracelet system to make them compatible with so went down the troll route as they seemed to be more widely available at the time, but now there's loads of different ones!
I've stuck the web address in my profile now :) Title: Re: Hello! Post by: EJ on January 22, 2010, 09:01:30 PM Those are really tempting beads!
I envisage purchase of earrings before too long (you maybe won't have time to make yourself some balms!!) Title: Re: Hello! Post by: nakedtruthbeauty on January 22, 2010, 09:02:28 PM Ooh, lovely beads. Welcome, you'll soon feel at home. :buttrf:

Title: Re: Hello! Post by: Jaq on January 22, 2010, 11:16:40 PM Thankyou everyone, Lampwork is a very old craft originating in Venice and originally glassworkers would have melted glass over oil lamps hence the name, but now we have torches fuelled by oxygen and propane similar to a welders torch, which are very very hot! So the mention of a bunsen burner was not that far off :D I use rods of glass like long glass pencils that I melt in the flame and shape into beads, which then sit in a kiln for a few hours to de-stress, then depending on what you want to do with them I make them into jewellery, sell them loose to jewellery makers or add the silver cores for wearing on the charm bracelets that are very fashionable at the moment. Sometimes when the rods are cold and the flame hot the glass shocks and sends little splinters flying burning whatever's nearest ;D hence my want of a good aloe vera gel stick type thingy to dab on while I'm working ;) Most common place for lady beaders burns is the cleavage believe it or not ;D
Title: Re: Hello! Post by: Michelle on January 22, 2010, 11:24:10 PM Oh my God Jaq those beads are beautiful Im not surprised you have sold out of the first ones. Ive just started making upsome pandora type bracelets and oh my godness those are in a class of their own.
