Title: hello! Post by: gealbhan on December 28, 2009, 12:44:18 AM hi, i live in scotland and am a student of herbal medicine. I love green pharmacy and the past few years have been making my own herbal creams, salves/ointments, lip balms etc. Very much a newbie tho and can't wait to learn more here! Cheers!
Title: Re: hello! Post by: EJ on December 28, 2009, 12:54:56 AM Hello and welcome - you'll find a lot of info here and more on the Main site in Resources (more still if you make more posts).
How is your name pronounced? (I tend to say Gaelic words in my head as though they were Welsh - it doesn't work!!) Title: Re: hello! Post by: corrie on December 28, 2009, 01:11:27 AM Hi Gealbhan
Welcome to our friendly forum. I tinker with some herbal balms myself. Are you at the Glasgow School of hebal medicine? Look forward to chatting to you around the boards. (PS more boards open to you as you post more) Title: Re: hello! Post by: Michelle on December 28, 2009, 02:58:29 AM Hya Gealbhan, what a gorgeous name, welcome
Looking forward to chatting to you Im sure we will be picking your brain for knowledge, as you will ours. As Elaine says you will find that the more you post the more boards will open up to you, its surprising how quickly that can happen too. Enjoy Title: Re: hello! Post by: Helen on December 28, 2009, 08:55:32 AM Hi Gealbhan!!
A warm welcome from me. What an interesting subject to study and I can imagine you will create some wonderful products using your knowledge of herbs and it will be interesting hearing about your creations. I hope you find the forum helpful and supportive to your study :) :buttrf: Title: Re: hello! Post by: Suzanne on December 28, 2009, 10:59:09 AM Hello, and welcome. I am sure you will have fun here.

Yes, studying with the glasgow school on their access course at the mo for the BHS hons. degree programme. Did an apprenticeship with an American herbalist a few years ago too. It was she who got me into making herbal cosmetics! :-) I look forward to speaking to y'all on the forums! Title: Re: hello! Post by: Honey on December 28, 2009, 09:43:53 PM Thanks for doing the phonetic version of your name, I was mispronouncing it (says Gail Bawn - Bhán in Irish is white).
Anyways, welcome and hello! Friend of mine lives in Glasgow too. Title: Re: hello! Post by: gealbhan on December 29, 2009, 01:09:20 AM hi, yea, don't actually live in glasgow. Live in the northeastern most corner of scotland in caithness. The herb med school is correspondance and long weekend per month courses. Quite convenient for those that live remote. ;-)

Honey, my dear, what sound does 'bh' make? :mwaha: Eire Title: Re: hello! Post by: EJ on December 29, 2009, 02:30:46 AM Quote Live in the northeastern most corner of scotland in caithness I get up there occasionaly - friend in Watten and one in Helmsdale (who has unfortunately stopped smoking salmon and other stuff - I used to pick up a bottle of Ardbeg at the distillery in Tain and swap it for a side of smoked salmon). Title: Re: hello! Post by: gealbhan on December 29, 2009, 12:41:38 PM oh, have you ever stopped at the highland fine cheeses factory in tain? Besides their well known crowdie they do one called Hramsa which is crowdie with chopped wild garlic... Divine. They sell all their cheeses out the backdoor of the factory. Watten is about 20 miles northwest of me. I often pick alot of hawthorn berries near there. Great hedgerows that side of the county!

Feck off Teacher :rasp: :mwaha: Hey, I only did Irish in school all my life, it's not like I can speak it :mwaha: Title: Re: hello! Post by: madpiano on December 29, 2009, 08:07:55 PM Hiya
wellcome here, you will find this forum really lovely, funny and friendly. Thanks for the phonetic version of your name as well, I really struggle with any gaelic words and I am always amazed how many people are still able to speak these languages. Title: Re: hello!
