Post by: teresa46 on December 09, 2009, 10:53:31 AM
Hi Everyone,
This is a bit of a long shot but I don't suppose anybody knows of a course for making silicone moulds by any chance
TIA Teresa

There's a tutorial (http://www.fresholi.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=76) in Resources.

The sad thing is .... the little jumping emoticon is just how I feel!  :mwaha: A week away from the family, and learing about all things soapy and moulds, and fizzies, and CP and M&P and business......... sigh. I can hardly wait! ;D

Will definatly tell you all about it. Just try to stop me!!  ;D

I took a look at the tutorial (which I recommended to Helen and she had permission to post it) and made moulds - can't see that a course is needed frankly.

There are loads of videos on Youtube and phoning suppliers can get you goodly info and advice, especially Tiranti (http://www.tiranti.co.uk/index.asp) who sell a variety of silicone rubbers including foodsafe which would be the best choice.

There is also the supplier (http://www.modelshop.co.uk/category/Cast___Mould/Latex___Silicone?page=1) which the person who wrote the tutorial uses.

Silcione isn't cheap - you're talking around £25 or more per litre unless you're buying in quantity

thanks EJ, unfortunately for me, i have to look at it myself as oh  would only understand the how to and be able able to give guidance theoretically, he could never actually physically make it for me.

Tiranti has 25% off food safe one that EJ referred to till Jan2010, if buying 2 or more.
