i know that fresholi competition is reduced to abbreviations by the forum software, but i cannot find the list!
i really need it because i can't make out what people are talking about at times!  :P
any chance it can be made a sticky?

I never thought about it as a reduction of competition - more of a courtesy to Helen and Kes not to blatanty advertise other businesses on something they've worked to hard to achieve.

i personally think the link is incredibly kind and generous and  personally cant see a need for it as people usually pm to each other to say what they refer to even though i have never asked myself.

Please note that names of firms/suppliers which are or could be in competition with Fresholi will be automatically (i.e. by software) or manually altered to abbreviations or other less obvious wording.

Please be aware that the automatic action also occurs in Private Messages.

there're abbreviations in other posts that i can't work out, and many are old threads, so a surprise request to clarify i f i pm'd. and not much use if the software does it on pms too!  :buttrf:

I have placed something in announcements to explain the reasoning behind it.
I prefer to look at it like Fresholi competitors are granted the courtesy of an acronym with a key, rather than them being reduced to the same.
The key can be found by clicking the all new About button in the top menu when you are logged in.

Obviously the more the discussions centre around raw materials suppliers, the more frustrated folks can get with the abbreviations.

Absolutely! I do seem to have innocently ruffled a few feathers on Fresholi's behalf,  :Bad: but I just wanted to know what everyone was talking about!

The animated gifs can be created using imaging editing software such as photoshop.
You basically set up the animations by placing successive movements on separate layers and publishing the finished file as an animation setting a time delay for each frame (layer).

Photoshop also has a tween command which helps speed up the layer (movement) creation.
Gimp (opensource) is able to created animated gifs also, but the process is more long-winded as it lacks a tween function.

You can find tutorials outlining the procedure for each editor pretty much everywhere on the web.
