Title: 1st fair! Post by: sharon on October 29, 2009, 10:04:33 PM I'm very excited, I'm going to be doing a little fair! :hap3: It is only a couple of hours in a church hall but I am looking forward to it. I've never been able to book fairs before due to health problems I couldn't be sure I'd be ok by the time the event came round ::)
I suppose I better get planning and preparing, it is on the 7th Nov :o What sells well in church halls near x-word? :mwaha: Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: Honey on October 29, 2009, 10:17:49 PM Ohhh should be exciting! I'd say gift boxes, probably smaller items (less expensive) in the 10 - 20 pound selection.. not sure if that matches your products though?!
Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: Helen on October 29, 2009, 10:19:06 PM How about some of those lovely bath goodies you do Sha? Hey.... what about a kind of 'pick and mix' of bath bombs, melts etc... you know, those sorts of things (obviously pick and mix isn't the right words but I think it would do well - thinking about the things that seem to sell well at the kids' school fete). Then you can set up a special area for your premium products? Sorry, I know I am not much help as I have so little experience :-\
Great news on the fair though :) Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: kevie192 on October 29, 2009, 10:22:27 PM For me, church halls seem to like the cheaper items and gift sets at the moment. Sell out of £5-7 gift sets every time!

Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: Eire on October 29, 2009, 10:46:29 PM That's great Sha, you'll love it. I agree with Kevin though, some will spend more, but mostly 5-10 bracket.

Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: sharon on October 29, 2009, 11:16:56 PM Thank you everyone!
Do you think stuff like a body butter, bath tea, bath bomb in a bag or box? Also I have loads of rollerballs, I could make perfumes and pulse point roll ons. It is the labelling that is a pain, I can dream up products until the cows come home but then have to make the labels which takes so much longer ::) I'll have to dig out my molds, I wasn't going to do bath melts and bath bombs on the website this year as they sold so well last year I had to keep getting up at 4:30am to get everything done :o Obviously it was great to be selling them but they are all so labour-intensive and I was absolutely knackered by the x-word day! But I can see how things like that would be perfect for a stall and manageable. In fact I will enjoy making them again, and I already have labels done from last year ;) I don't have any soap except liquid castille, and I can't even add eos for variety as I don't have a soap SA,will it seem odd not having soap? I could make up bars with surfactants though. Also I thought perhaps many of the customers might be 'mature' so would it be worth taking along some 'relief' balms and oils? I'm also going to be doing another fair one afternoon in Dec at a school ;D Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: EJ on October 29, 2009, 11:40:46 PM Definitely some of your bath goodies Sha.
Definitely some of your high end stuff also. There's quite a varied cross section in your neck of the woods. Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: sharon on October 30, 2009, 10:59:17 AM Yes you are right Elaine, and the fair is in Dyserth which is a very nice well-to-do village. I think the standard might be quite high so I will take a variety of gift sets and the high end stuff as well, like you said.
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about the products I could make :hap3: :mwaha: Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: JANE MALCOLM on October 30, 2009, 05:18:42 PM Well done Sha.....it is soooo exciting and I wish you the very best of luck x
Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: EJ on October 30, 2009, 06:17:51 PM I'd come and give you a hand - but I've a fair in Chester the next day so I think I'll be too busy.

I know you will do well. since you have a good selection why don't you take some of everything, when i'm not sure of some where i take everything with me. some might not not even get an eying but you just never know. Don't let the formulation bug take hold of you, when i get it takes all my time. Title: Re: 1st fair! Post by: andykim on November 02, 2009, 03:59:10 PM Hope it all goes well for you.
