Today was something of a washout! Scheduled for 11.00 - 6.00.

The festival was due to open at 11 - the rain got there first and by 11.30 it was chucking it down until 12.30. Then we had sun and the habitual 2.00pm influx arrived - and departed around 4.00pm as the heavens opened once more.

The ground inside the marquee was decidedly water logged as it was sited on a level area at the base on a steepish bank.

So next to no sales!

Argh, bloody weather it does make the difference. Such a shame!
This craft fair biz ain't easy  :-\

Oh no EJ. I did think of you today when the rain started bashing it down here around 11am. Any more days booked soon?

Ah that's a real pity, I'm sorry. 

Yes - it would have been a nice little do if it had been sunny all the time.

There's the Ruthin mart at the end of the month and I've booked into to the the one down the road for the last two months of the season (1st Sunday). It costs more but it's just over a mile down the road and at an organic farm shop/restaurant right on the A5 - it'll be the sprogless holiday makers then.

Do you get a lot of what Stena Line lovingly calls Golden Years visitors at that time? My folks used to go over on trips to Wales on the ferry (as it's about 15 mins from my house) when my Mum was alive. 

Yes - some of the "Golden Years" bods - but also those whose kids are old enough to be left at home or have gone on to college/uni.

Also Merseysiders and Cheshire bods out for a tootle round N.Wales for the day - some will be thinking about Xword presents already.

At the end of the day I didn't have the problem which most of them faced; there was a queue for getting vehicles close to one of the two exits to the tent and someone came in and said there were men outside waiting to push (bit of a muddy slope) but they'd have to go soon.

So I waited and let them go before I fetched the jeep round to an exit. When I did go around the tent to depart I saw that they'd all been taking the same route out, which had become very churned up, rather than taking a wider turn over untravelled grass (and a gentler slope), so I just dropped into low gear, engaged 4WD and cruised off the field.

Annoying thing was that, after I'd passed through St. Asaph, the road was dry until nearly into Ruthin!

How annoying!!!  I am sorry EJ, it must be a bit disheartening (for all) when you have to put so much into something that doesn't give much back.  Did you break even do you think?

So sorry it was a wash out this year has not been good for any of us as far as the weather & fairs.
