Title: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Chrissie on October 19, 2007, 06:11:11 PM I discovered this website on my travels around the internet and it seems like a nice place to hang out :)
I've managed to indulge my twin passions of aromatherapy and guinea pigs by creating the world's first and only range of aromatherapy products designed especially for guinea pigs......yes really! Guinea pigs are originally from Peru where the climate is warm and dry. Here in the UK they can have major skin problems because of the humidity and lack of appropriate bedding / care. This can be anything from scurfy skin / dandruff, scabby mouths, through to Mites, Lice and Ringworm, so plenty of challenges on the skincare front to prove how effective aromatic products can be. I look forward to meeting you all soon. Chrissie & 9 very Gorgeous Guineas PS - all our product testing is done by humans on behalf of guinea pigs :mwaha: Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: EJ on October 19, 2007, 07:11:07 PM Hello Chrissie,
Interesting to see something different - had a quick scoot round your website. This is a lovely friendly place - but I'm wondering whether you're going to ask Helen to change the name of the requests for volunteer testers board! Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Helen on October 19, 2007, 08:20:28 PM Hi Chrissie!
A very warm welcome to the forum, you and your nine little babies. I just love the idea of humans guinea piggying for guinea pigs so I second your.... :mwaha: You are right Elaine, will the piggies board now cause offence :D And how lovely to be able to mix both the things you love! I'm sure I am going to learn a thing or two from you ;) :D Thanks for joining us Chrissie its lovely to have your here!!! Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Chrissie on October 19, 2007, 09:16:09 PM Thank you both for the welcome :)
Maybe you just need to amend "guinea pigs" to read "human guinea pigs" LOL! I won't take offence...... We all need product testers to give us feedback :D When my goodies have passed the human testing, I work with 5 or 6 guinea pig rescues around the UK and in the Netherlads. They always have guineas with an assortment of skin problems needing nhelp. The rescues receive free products in return for feedback and "before and after" photos so everybody wins. Chrissie Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Helen on October 19, 2007, 09:43:16 PM Maybe there some real Guinea pigs belonging to some of the human Guinea pigs on here that would help you in the... erm... Guinea Pigging! ;) :D

Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Edith on October 21, 2007, 12:25:32 PM Hi Chrissie
Aww I think it's a lovely idea and very unique welcome on board they are very friendly here and knowledgeable! Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: penny71 on October 21, 2007, 12:33:27 PM Hi Chrissie
awww guinea pigs, so cute...have you seen those little hairless ones that every1 is trying to get their mitts on at the mo? they are just gorg...anyway welcome :) Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Chrissie on October 21, 2007, 01:42:40 PM Hi Zoe,
Thanks for the welcome. Don't get me started about those poor h@irless guineas >:( I have never seen one that looks happy. They need specialist care, don't have brilliant immune systems and are prone to skin problems. I really hope that pet shops don't start selling them to the public as the next "must have" item. Sadly if this happens, many will end up in rescues when people discover how much care and attention they need. I'll get off my soapbox now and go and hug my own lovely fully haired guineas :) Chrissie & 9 Gorgeous Guineas Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: emmag on October 21, 2007, 02:17:18 PM 'Not tested on animals' :mwaha:
Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: penny71 on October 21, 2007, 08:40:37 PM Hi Chrissie
what is the problem? are they not naturally hairless? don't tell me human kind has been messing with them as well?? I don't know, they just look cute... :) Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: afrokelt on October 21, 2007, 08:42:49 PM Hi Chrissie, just wanted to say a quick welcome to the board.
very interesting concept you have...I'm not too familiar with guineas but will be have a peek at your site shortly. Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: sarahlf on October 21, 2007, 09:09:28 PM Hi Chrissie,
Glad you made it over here! I've found the group here to be a very warm and inviting gang and they've already had to put up with me!! Best wishes, Sarah. Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Helen on October 21, 2007, 09:20:52 PM Aw, bless... 'putting up with you' (I don't know ::) :D)
Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: abigailbalfour on October 21, 2007, 10:57:41 PM I used to keep guinea pigs. The most I ever had were seven. Abyssinians are my favourite, and I sometimes really miss them now they are gone. I don't miss cleaning them out, though!
Perhaps one day when I am living in a larger house, I will get some more. Also, guinea pigs and carpets in rented accommodation do not mix well, I have found. Anyway, welcome to the board. Please will you put some photos up? Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Helen on October 21, 2007, 11:03:31 PM Hey it's you!! Did that naughty Abigail with the big stick finally give up? :D
Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: EJ on October 22, 2007, 12:46:18 AM Are your products suitable for bunnies?
Or is the skin and hair/fur of cavies different from coneys? (there are some pampered bunnies over the lane from us, but I don't know anyone with guinea pigs) Title: Re: Hello From Gorgeous Guineas Post by: Chrissie on October 22, 2007, 08:58:07 AM H@irless pigs appeared during the '70s and were created using mutated genes. Sadly their bare skin was perfect for testing skincare ingredients / products >:( This mainly happened in the US and then the guineas were later handed over to breeders who have since mated them with "normal" guineas to strengthen their immune systems. In the summer they need high factor sunscreen if they go in the sun, in the winter they need a jumper along with a carefully controlled temperature to stop them getting cold. They also need daily moisturising.....E45 Cream seems to be very popular for this!!!
Abigail: here are pigtures of a few of my piggies both past and present. I don't think there is any comparison between these lovely fully haired guineas and the "designer" ones...... http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/kathleen.htm (http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/kathleen.htm) I would much rather clean out my piggies than do h**sework LOL!! Elaine: some of the products can be used on rabbits, but their skincare issues are different to guineas and you don't generally shampoo them. Chrissie & 9 fully haired guineas Elaine: |
