Could someone help me...  Is it possible to make a container candle that doesn't contain wax?  From say shea, cocoa etc......

Bound to be - think of oil lamps, no wax there.

I guess I am concerned about the smoking and other considerations that might need to be taken into account

Are gel candles wax?

Soy wax burns cleanly H and there's little faff making them as whatever you melt them in can be washed in hot soapy water.

I second Corrie on Soy wax it produces about 90% less soot than paraffin wax and tis reall really easy;.and whats better is its a renewable source and doesnt have a big carbon footprint. Wicking can be a pain tho, but if you know th size of your container maybe could help.

The thing is, if in a high %, would it allow extended massage without drag?  I reckon I would need a minimum of 30mins massage time.  I also wonder how comedogenic it is (particularly important for back massage as this area can be as prone to black heads/spots as the face  :-\). 

Mind you, I bet a soy wax massage candle would make for a nice manicure/pedicure treatment whereby the massage is not quite so extended and these areas would benefit from the protective layer left by the wax and could also be used at home (between treatments) for maintenance as it would be an easy area to apply to.  Hmm.....

The meltin point of soy is about 45c and yes it iis water soluble, however I think you may get drag depending on what other oils you add to it. Then there is the risk factor of the flammability if you have added other oils. I know I have to careful with the % when I use Eo's in my soy containers as some are more flamable than others
Is my understanding correct that you wish to have the candle lit and then use the melted wax to then massage the body?

No, not hopi ear candles (wouldn't dare to make them - can you imagine??  :mwaha:).  I do intend on having it lit so that i can just keep pouring an amount off for massage.  I wish I knew the full ingredient list of the Yonka candle but my understanding is that it contains no wax and has a high % shea.  Hmmm..... I need to get the ingredients list don't I  :-\  Thanks for all your input on this  :)

I'm still trying to figure how to make ucuuba burn, apparently they are lighted neat and they burn but i am not finding it burns as easily as they say.
