Title: Ikea moulds
Post by: Ɛyɔn :-) on December 15, 2008, 03:45:51 PM
I was in Ikea this morning and they had 4 huge boxes of the star and  heart moulds some people have used for bath melts, i remember a few people have said how difficult it is for them to get to ikea, i am going back on Wednesday if anyone wants me to get them some. they are .99 each. there are a new style heart shaped one, but i dont personally like the curve at the top its too wide, they are also bigger than the old shaped ones, i get a 16g from the old hearts but the new heart would give something like 20-25g i guessed.

old heart version (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20099892)

New heartsNew heart version (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60146194)

And one i made earlier.

Ikea is close to me so I am ok thanks for the offer though. I like both moulds though but the old ones do fit the boxes very well.

I had a look at the new moulds and was disappointed. I always have trouble getting things out of the old moulds as they are not quite flexible enough; they are just about OK, though, and I persevere. The new moulds seem very rigid indeed; I bet it's a nightmare getting things out of them! Having said that, the new hearts do look quite shallow compared to the old ones, with more tapered sides; that might help the extraction process...

mhmm, you might be right Abi, maybe i should get one and try it, although i don't like the shape of it, but you are right they are a bit rigid,so i put it in the freezer for a bit before pushing out which makes it easier to pop out.

i have  a bath melt  sitting pretty in the heart version, i pop it out if time permits tomorrow or  the next few days, surprisingly it grows on you once you have bought and brought it home.
