Fresholi | Melting Pot Café

I'm doing a fair in Glasgow city centre next weekend, it'll be the biggest, highest profile fair I've done so far. At the top of the main shopping street, next door to my old shop (Virgin).
The event is hosted by http://www.glasgowbizarrebazaar.com/ (http://www.glasgowbizarrebazaar.com/) and features some fetish wear but also boring old people like me  ;D
I'm sure I'll be ok, there's a staue of Donald Dewar outside, he wouldn't let too much kinky stuff happen under his nose!

Just the fair to replace those worn out tassles --LOL ! Your Zebra soaps should sell like hotcakes.

Seen the fair advertised elsewhere Corrie - hope you do well and shift those boxes.

You'll get all the hip and happening people there, who'll probably be into natural products, so you could do really well - good luck.

How exciting C.  Are you there both Sat and Sun?  I bet you are packaging and labelling like crazy at the moment.  I wish you the very best success and I know you will let us know how it went.  Will be thinking about you  :hap3:

It's just on Saturday. Actually, I'm cool as a cucumber, coz everything bar 2 batches is wrapped and ready. However, I do need to get John to build me something to hold my single soaps, the shelves I used last time weren't very good.
There is one other soaper there called Pure and Natural or summat like that but they don't seem to have website so I can check them out.
And I need a new table cloth....

Can't you save a few bars of those batches back so you can wrap them there.  Might be good for people to see the work that goes into them and if you do get an occasional quiet moment, it would keep ya out of trouble give you something to do until the next surge of customers.

You haven't seen me all fingers and thumbs. In my spare moments I will be doing 1 of 2 things..

Quite right Ruth, I have a tale, but its one of woe  :(
A day before this fair the organisers were told that it would be moved to a bigger function suite, great they thought but it was up 3 flights of stairs!  The original hall was inside the front door but as there was carol concerts on all day I guess they thought that the fetish element would clash with cute kids singing for their Nans.
The hall was full, some fantastic stalls, nowt you wouldn't want yer mum to see (well, maybe one or 2) but no bugger could find us! I broke even on the cost of the stall petrol and parking, not cheap in Glasgae central!
I met some very useful and nice people, as you do, and have some very good leads to work on in the new year. I was sandwiched between a lady selling the most wonderful and humorous pottery animals and a fantastic SS jeweller, who also runs her own successful fairs  ;D
As for the "other" element, well it was good eye candy, I'm seriously thinking I need to get a corset  ;) 22" waist and a couple of pounds of jelly up top, it did look rather good! There was a guy selling gimp masks, I said to John before he set up "I bet he wears a gimp mask" I was so right! lol
Anyway here's the goods........

If you've made goodly contacts it was worth going, and you've seen something different from your average craft fair!

The organiser has asked everyone to email her a letter to the effect that they were not happy with the room and the no. of people who found it.
And I forgot to say, at 11.55. ie 5 min to kick off, there was the one and only empty table dirrectly opposite me. Who do you think rushed in at the last min? Same as last time, my bought in crappy soap pals  >:( Still, they packed up early.

What a great looking stall!!  Well done but I bet it was hard work lugging it up those stairs.  And good that you broke even (but surprising you didn't make more  :-\).

Reminds me... before having kid me and my co-worker girls decided to go to an event called SeXhibition because we had never been in a such and we were nosy. There were a few shows going on and lots of stuff being sold. It made us giggle. Hubby called and asked when will the dinner be ready and I said I don't know, I'm on a sex exhibition. He was surprisingly surprised.  He had thought he'd been living with a nice girl! :mwaha:

Stall looked great C, and at least you broke even.  Maybe we should get some of the other stallholders down to the marina to add a bit of interest to the place  ;D

I did take a pic of the ceramics next to me but I didn't feel it was right to take pics of the girls in corsets/burlesque dress etc, there were some quite stunning ones though. There was a tiny, doll like girl not far from me, maybe size 6, her waist would have been smaller than my thigh. She teetered about on the highest heels, fanning herself with black ostrich feather fans, quite a performance!

Well, yesterday turned out ok in the end. I didn't check the phone messages when I got in. I got another order from the shop in Helensburgh that has my soap, so actually quite a good day  :hap3:

Not really EJ. I always pop one in with a purchase but with little sales it doesn't really work (they was piles of them on the table). The girl next to me actually was the organiser of another fair, one she invited me to attend a while back. So perhaps I will do hers (also in the centre of Glasgow) next year. The best thing I ever did was get a banner, it looks great on the stall, even if it is on the front of the table but people see it from far off, hopefully they will remember the name!
I did have a couple of people who said they had been on my website, so I suppose even for the exposure it was worth it.

All not lost then Corrie. Your stall looks fab though and you just never know what will come from that bit of exposure. OK, not led a sheltered life but like H, what is the mask for?  ::)

I think the more you can get your logo and name about, the better C  :)

P.S.  See?  Now if even Joy doesn't know what one is for, I don't stand bob hope do I  :-\

Well, I'm really not an expert but at a guess I would imagine it dulls some of your senses, sight, hearing, speech (if its one with a snooker ball that goes in the mouth) which presumably heightens the other senses of touch and smell, they all seem to have nose holes.
Anyone that knows better, please feel free to enlighten us further!
