Title: Crafts for Christmas at Yorkshire Showground Post by: SoapyWytch on November 16, 2008, 11:37:05 PM Hi everyone,
I went to the Crafts for Christmas Fair at the Yorkshire Showground today, to check it out as people had said there are tons of customers who go there every year. I wondered if any of you has any experience of it? There were about half a dozen or so places selling soaps/lotions/aromatherapy stuff, and some seemed busy, some didn't. I'm not sure whether it's worth trying it next year, as it's horrendously expensive - this year was about £200 for a metre of frontage! There were loads of people there though, and considering it was the last day, I was amazed at the crowd, and the size of the place. Any comments gratefully received! They make lotions, soap etc. I think it depends on the venue and your competitors. There's a huge one here at the SECC in Glasgow, Country Living Xmas fair, my friend has a stall at that and I'm sure she said it was £1000 for the four days. It certainly gives you food for thought, seeing the types of potential competitors at these places. There were some people who were very interactive and had lots of things for people to touch and smell, and these were certainly the ones that were attracting the customers, whereas the couple who weren't selling themselves as much as their product didn't seem to have anyone nearby. I can't make up my mind about this one, still, I suppose I have a while to consider whether it's worth the outlay next year. Can't sell if you're not out there.... But think about stock for four days if your're selling well!! |
