Title: Newbie saying hello
Post by: afrokelt on September 16, 2007, 10:16:18 AM
Hi Everyone, :)
Thot I'd say a quick hello about myself before I get too engrossed in reading all the posts and forget!
I've been making soap and stuff(no lotions or creams yet) for going on 3years just for fun. Haven recently being made redundant, I've decided to see if I can turn my hobby into a business.
I've been on a few other soaping boards but mainly American..being in Ireland, I was looking for something more "local".
Anyway...looking forward to having a great time here! :)

Hi,

I saw your name crop up as latest member last night. There's a vast amount of info on the site already and more being added, Helen (and Kestrel) doing a greatt job.

Whereabouts in Ireland?

Hi Afrokelt,

A big warm welcome from me!!  I noticed you are registered on the forum but not through the main site (there's more resources available for registered users so might be worth doing).  Have you got any photos because I can set you up with a gallery if you want one, it's lovely to see the creations of others and if you are planning to turn it into a business (sorry about the redundancy  :() it may give you some extra exposure to potential customers? (sorry, I'm a bit of a piccie monster & always on the hunt  ;D). There's also some hidden stuff (Between Friends) that may offer some inspiration.

There's just been a new category added regarding legal issue that you may want to explore?  I can't wait to hear about your soapmaking projects and new endeavours.  Thanks for joining us and I look forward to chatting with you on the boards.  Please remember, if you have any suggestions that might help improve what you get out of your time spent here, just let me know, I always listen and try to act upon any suggestions made  ;)

Is that why there are two different login buttons at the bottom of the Forum page?

I always use the lower one.

Yes (I think, I don't log in) but although the forum looks fully integrated (thanks to kestrel's magic), it is actually very seperate  ;)

I did for a while, but  I think there was a bit of a "closed shop" about teddy bear fairs.

Wow…thanks for the welcome! I’m sure I ‘m gonna love it here!
I’m in Dublin…didn’t even know there was a main site…was actually searching for “soapmaking discussion forum" in UK so I came directly to the forum from google…was too excited on finding it to notice it was part of a mainsite!!
I am seriously photo-impaired so bear with me! I do have a few pics though and I’ll post them up. I 've been struggling with taking decent pics for my site...still working on that...I was fairly okay-ish about the redundancy…if nothing else, it gives me a chance to spend more time with my kids-have two…girl who's five and three quarters and a boy who's three and half(the fractions are very important!!)
Had to go google “mohair bears” and came across some really cute ones! Do you have any pics? Never tried cardmaking…figure I am not creative enough for that so I just drool over ones made by others.I really like handmade stuff...they are sooo unique....speaking
Will have a look at the legal issues section. I got a few recipes certified…hoping to play around with lotions once things have settled down.
Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I know what you mean about the fractions, my girl is seven and three quarters and my boy is 4 (although he's been saying that for the past 6 months, he's not 4 until the end of october).

If you just email me some pictures and the blurb you want to put with your pictures, I'll sort you a gallery out  ;) (well, kestrel will, lol).  Have a look on the front page 'Members Galleries' for more information on getting the best from it  :)

Lovely to have you here!

Hi there,

Your gallery is up now!  You have a beautiful range there and I am sure they will be very inspiring.   :)
