Title: Hello Everyone! Post by: murpg on July 07, 2007, 02:20:28 PM Hi there,
My name is Georgina, im 24 & i live in Leicester. I have been toying with the idea of making my own soaps for a while now, so i have decided to take the plunge & go for it. Fingers crossed! :) I have always been quite arty so in my spare time im usually painting or drawing & hopefully soap making if it all goes to plan. He he. I have always loved the idea of homemade cosmectics using natural ingrediants & no harsh chemicals. Knowing exactly what has gone in to making the finished product. I shop alot at 'L___' & their products are amazing but maybe alittle too expensive. Which i suppose is another reason for wanting to make my own soaps. Altough i was abit scared when i first read that you have to use lye in the process. I managed to get some from the chemist but is there anywhere else you can get it from?? ??? It was lovely meeting you today Helen & your products are absolutley wonderful. ;D Many thanks, Georgina Let the soap making commence! :D Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Post by: Helen on July 07, 2007, 02:57:13 PM Hi Georgine,
It was really lovely meeting you today, I wish I could meet all my customers face to face - maybe we could have an annual event (well someday maybe). Anyway, a really huge welcome to the forum, your presence here is really, really, really appreciated and I am optimistic that you will get loads from the diverse range of experience here. Every post you make counts & I thank you in advance for your support and presence here. I just read on another post that L___ is apparently a swear word among soap makers but the thing about it is, their products are so easily reproduced and more imortantly, making them yourself ensures that you avoid the things you don't want and em real tight with the things that you do want. You are master of your own and what a wonderful way fuel your artistic energys (especially when creating soaps). Maybe post a question about the lye on the main boards, it will probably get a more focussed response there and there are some very experienced soap makers here who I'm sure will only be willing to offer advice. Anyway, you'll have to keep us all posted because I for one would love to hear how you get on. THANK YOU AGAIN AND YOU ARE VERY WARMLY WELCOMED... I'm looking forward to reading your posts as your skills develop. Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Post by: bloostar on July 07, 2007, 03:36:26 PM Hi Georgina :)
Good luck with the soap making, im just about to go make my first one.. although its melt and pour, not cold processing.. thats a bit daunting for me at the moment hehe! Oh and Helen, you should organise an annual "do" - that would be cool :) and also its an excuse for me to travel a long way! (i like travelling, living in penzance means i have to travel a long way to get to anywhere!) Welcome to the forum Georgina :) im glad im not the only newby now ::) Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Post by: angie124 on July 10, 2007, 09:09:52 AM hi georgina and welcome from me too,
please let us all know how your sopa making goes, and yes L___ is very expensive for what it is, i fortunatly never have tried there stuff as i had family members doing soap before L___ cam about. ( i do believe they even stole my brothers egg box idea ( that they put the bath bombs in) from his shop in stoke on trent, but we would never prove it as silly brother didnt patent it or what ever it is you have to do to stop someone pinching your idea hahaha. anyway good luck and welcome :D Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Post by: Helen on July 10, 2007, 08:13:40 PM There's probably more than one idea that's been stolen! >:(
Anyone interesting in a 'L___-A-Like' board yet? Lol Title: Re: Hello Everyone! Post by: Helen on July 11, 2007, 09:43:10 PM Hi Georgina,
