Title: plantaholic Post by: andoy on January 23, 2015, 01:32:25 PM ok, for you fellow plantaholics and gardeners
I've been growing and buying some plants wholesale. I'm offering them at cost to fellow Fresholites... need to offload a few. I was going to list some on eBay. What I have currently are small healthy 2cm plug plants. Available now (sorry I can't reserve for future posting) ...Pelargoniums and Basil are £1.50 each and the rest are just £1 each or 6 for a £5 (postage I think is £3 for UK. I think I can post to Europe as well).
this is Lavender "Platinum Blonde"... I'm going to fill my front garden with this (and stipa tenusima pony tail grass). (http://suttons.s3.amazonaws.com/p/FLSLAV29665_3.jpg) More to come in March... Mint Berry & Cream, Mint Stawberry, and a few more I can't remember. Long list of variety scented leaf Pelargoniums and hort species they were derived from (I have more than 25 varieties and growing to over 50 soon... I mainly propagate the lovely strong scented ones, but a few more ornamental ones), chamomile Roman, Jasmin clotted cream & normal white form. * update to increase list --- I've ordered more and found a few more while tidying up! Title: Re: plantaholic Post by: andoy on January 23, 2015, 10:39:26 PM no problem EJ, just let me know when and if you're interested. I will probably have loads for a while. These will be properly hardened off in a couple weeks, but obviously much milder down here.
Title: Re: plantaholic Post by: andoy on January 24, 2015, 09:43:40 AM just a few more added in there :mwaha:

Title: Re: plantaholic Post by: retropants on January 26, 2015, 05:06:08 PM oh dear Andy, you have no idea what you have started. once you start collecting plants, it becomes an obsession. I am the type of stupid person that buys half dead plants in the reduced section to try and save them, like they are endangered whales or something. I like a challenge! My current refugees are 2 moth orhids from Ikea that were almost dead, bought at the end of last year. Now both are flowering :) :)
I'll chat to you at Pinner in a few weeks about helping you reduce your Title: Re: plantaholic Post by: andoy on January 26, 2015, 06:41:40 PM ha ha Em... talk about hopeless, I wish it was just something small like moth orchids (I have a collectio of them and other more difficult ones like vandas), but I also have silly things like 4ft pygmy dates, I'm keeping alive some heliconias that have no business growing in this part of the world (they are related to bananas and need to grow 8-16ft tall before they flower properly... I've got the smaller ones to flower though).
My dream is to have mini kew gardens with my fave heliconia sexy pink planted in drifts... this is not my sexy pink by the way ::) (http://heliconiaparadise.com/images/H.cv.Sexy_Pink_2.jpg) I'm going to scavenge some pallets and construct something to mount my pelargoniums and some of the herbs collections along my boundary fence for summer. They are hardier than most people think and can sometimes survive the winter. I've also applied for an allotment, but not holding my breath... everything left at the end of the year that isn't hardy will get cut back and cooked into EOs |
