Title: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 17, 2008, 09:02:24 PM Sorry to all that are experiencing fatal error messages. Please bare with us. The problem is actually with our host and kes is trying desperately to sort it out. If you get the error message, it is best to leave it for a minute or two then try again - annoying as it is. Kes and I can only apologise and we just wish we had more control over it. Kes is also doing what he can to find a solution this end to help the host sort it out. So very sorry :(
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 17, 2008, 09:04:49 PM oh bless you guys, I thought it was something I was doing wrong. Big hug to both of you.

Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 17, 2008, 09:15:53 PM the headache seems to be getting worse :bawl: oh noooooo, I thought JJ was telling porkies so that I would shut up about her av. Would a nice gentle head massage help? Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Suegardner on May 17, 2008, 09:18:14 PM oh good i thought it was my dodgy old computer, its ever such dramatic wording isnt it?
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 17, 2008, 09:19:52 PM Good thinking K
Sue 'fatal' does sound a bit :egad: Quote oh noooooo, I thought JJ was telling porkies so that I would shut up about her av. Would a nice gentle head massage help? That would be fantastico :) Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 17, 2008, 09:20:25 PM In that case H, get gone. Staring at the computer won't help.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: EJ on May 17, 2008, 09:34:17 PM I was trusting that Kes was beavering away behind the scenes.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 17, 2008, 09:35:53 PM May have to soon JJ
Yep, kes has been pulling his hair out, particularly today :argh: Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 17, 2008, 10:20:51 PM Ok, they've tried something.
If anyone gets the fatal error soon, can you shout? Then I'll check the error logs again. Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 17, 2008, 10:22:14 PM Will do K
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 17, 2008, 10:23:46 PM of course we will!

Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: EJ on May 18, 2008, 11:55:08 AM Quote If anyone gets the fatal error soon, can you shout? Just had a spate of them - on accessing the forum and then when attempting to reply Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 18, 2008, 01:16:16 PM Sorry EJ - We have been on it all morning and kes is going mad
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 18, 2008, 01:16:29 PM Hello Elaine,
I checked the error logs this morning. There was a load of continued errors. I have asked the hosts to move the site to one of their more stable servers. They have been tinkering with this one since beginning of May. I'm still waiting for a reply. I'm utterly fed up with them. Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 18, 2008, 02:13:17 PM darn, I just got them again as well, got any hair left, LOL?
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 18, 2008, 02:41:57 PM Nope! :mwaha:
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: EJ on May 18, 2008, 04:49:12 PM It's a B for you - how concerned are the providers?
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 18, 2008, 04:56:16 PM They are responding quickly but i think there's a big problem on their server. In fact, I just came off the phone to them and have been in contact with them throughout the weekend. So rest assured, kes, myself and the host are really working on this.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: EJ on May 18, 2008, 04:57:23 PM Thanks ever so - but do take a rest!!
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 18, 2008, 05:01:10 PM Gotta bath the kids in a mo' that'll be a welcomed break ;)
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Joy on May 18, 2008, 06:20:30 PM It's an annoying problem, esp for you H and Kes. I hope he has a wig for when he visits. It's so annoying esp when you pay for the service. It'll all come out in the wash. ()
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 18, 2008, 06:42:09 PM Access to support is second to none, it is just a case of actually getting something done. Thanks to everyone for being so supportive here ()
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 19, 2008, 08:56:02 PM dangnabbit, I am still getting those frigging error messages! Not your fault, guys, just thought I'd let you know
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 19, 2008, 08:58:50 PM And me. About 5 or 6 times so far tonight.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 19, 2008, 09:11:42 PM I know. Kes has been talking to them since he got in from work. He is now directing his correspondence to the management. Sorry again :(
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 19, 2008, 09:14:38 PM Not your fault H&K. We know you're doing what you can. Just thought you should know it's still happening.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 19, 2008, 09:18:21 PM dont keep apologising, we know its not your fault, and you Kes is spending so much time trying to get this sorted.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 19, 2008, 09:24:15 PM Thanks both of you and hey, nice to see you back LLL ;)
H&K lol... should have called Fresholi H&K, it has got a nice ring to it :mwaha: Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 20, 2008, 09:06:49 PM Well, I went round and round with the hosts.
I have been getting nowhere. The problem is a server misconfiguration due to the "tweaks" they have been doing recently. I googled and found the likely causes all over the place. Still, nothing got done. Although, it looked like they almost did something last night. But it changed again today. Finally, I have applied a bit of brute force and ignorance to the scripts. In the hope that it will circumvent the shortcomings of the server setup. We'll have to see what happens. I also asked them to migrate us to a "proper" server. On the plus side... During my "doing of the rounds", I did discover that man could actually walk on water. Courtesy of our hosts... Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 20, 2008, 09:09:17 PM :mwaha: Thats funny kes
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 20, 2008, 09:13:34 PM :mwaha:
It's been doing the fatal error thingy all over the place tonight. Very odd and must be very, very annoying for you. Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 20, 2008, 09:36:29 PM Thanks JJ,
I'm hoping technology advances at a fast enough rate that they can invent a cyber-thingy that I can insert somewhere. Anyway, I notice we have a newcomer who has thrust hisself upon the sword. Think I'll stay low for a bit while you lot Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 20, 2008, 09:38:12 PM I think we're doing a pretty good job so far Kes. :mwaha:
I dread to think where you'd like to insert said cyber-thingy when they invent it! Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 20, 2008, 09:41:34 PM Me too JJ. Needless to say I'm staying well away from him for a while ;)
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 20, 2008, 09:43:56 PM Probably best H.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: KarenS on May 20, 2008, 09:50:52 PM I think you'll find its us women that can walk on water, don't make me list all our fine attributes :mwaha:
I'm still getting the session time out & fatal errors, it doesn't bother me but I know who you feel Kes as my own website is having the same problem lately, clients are pressing the button twice because they sometimes encounter an error so all my orders come up twice :mwaha: yea, very funny, again, can't be bothered getting bothered, OH's company will sort it.... eventually Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 21, 2008, 01:20:51 PM oh frigfragfrog, still getting the error messages. Not complaining, Kes, just letting you know. :-*
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Joy on May 21, 2008, 07:29:22 PM I wonder if that guy's name was Jesus? I thought that the folk that live on the Wirral were a bit holy when I went up there a few years back. I went for a walk with my dad and step mom only to see all these people walking on water........ so I thought. It appears that there was a walk way on top of a wall that kept the tidal water in so they could use it as a boating lake but when the tide was in you could see the wal only the people walking on the top. It looked dead weird.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 21, 2008, 07:34:27 PM I bet it looked weird.
Hows the forum been for everyone this afternoon? Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: EJ on May 21, 2008, 07:41:58 PM Had a fatal error earlier on.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: sam1602 on May 21, 2008, 07:43:16 PM Me too. Earlier today. Things are ok at the mo!! :hap3:
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 21, 2008, 07:47:27 PM It may have been fixed this afternoon so can you see how it goes?
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: sam1602 on May 21, 2008, 07:48:52 PM Will do. ;D
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: JGorse on May 21, 2008, 07:49:03 PM Not had one so far tonight but will let you know.

Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 23, 2008, 02:11:03 PM So far, so good, fingers crossed. Thanks for all the hard work!
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 23, 2008, 06:00:42 PM Well hopefully that's all behind us now.
After much pleading, I convinced them to move site to a new (functional) server. I suppose alarm bells should have rang when they asked me to reboot my mouse pad in response to the first errors!! :mwaha: Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Joy on May 23, 2008, 06:18:52 PM fingers crossed Kes. I think alarm bells should have been clanging never mind ringing.
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 23, 2008, 06:36:20 PM I suppose alarm bells should have rang when they asked me to reboot my mouse pad in response to the first errors!! Oh good grief Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Kestrel on May 23, 2008, 06:55:37 PM They didn't really...I made that up.
Might as well have though. I saw the old "boot-the-mousepad" gambit in Dilbert once. Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: Helen on May 23, 2008, 07:17:50 PM Give me strength ::) :mwaha:
Title: Re: Fatal Errors Post by: lululiz on May 23, 2008, 09:08:30 PM rofl, yes, I guessed you were joking, but on the other hand, having read some very funny things on the net regarding the, lets say innocence, of people, I wouldn't totally dismiss it.
