Title: Sock Loom vs ddouble pointed needles Post by: EJ on October 28, 2013, 06:47:06 PM I want to knit some ankle warmers and can't find my double pointed needles.
Additionally I'm not sure how my left hand will mange if I buy more double pointed needles. A sock loom is an option - but I would think that the gauge/tension is fixed - so how would I use one to get finer rib at the top and bottom - or to increase/decrease number of stitches if required? Anyone used such a device? TIA Title: Re: Sock Loom vs ddouble pointed needles Post by: greenabubs on October 28, 2013, 07:22:06 PM I have no idea about a sock loom but what needles have you tried ? Have you ever tried two at a time socks x Double pointed needles previously (but I had a stroke last year). Don't really fancy trying the "two at a time". Have you tried asking on ravelry? No - 'cos I don't want to become involved in another forum. Title: Re: Sock Loom vs ddouble pointed needles Post by: greenabubs on October 29, 2013, 08:15:34 AM What material are the needles ?
Do you have any pain ? What does a sock loom do ? Sorry twenty questions ;D Title: Re: Sock Loom vs ddouble pointed needles Post by: Lindy on October 29, 2013, 05:51:42 PM What about doing circular needles using the magic loop method? You cast on as if you would using a single needle then at your half way mark pull the loop through so it is split. If you pull up some videos on You Tube like this one http://youtu.be/6KccLlkTKzE (http://youtu.be/6KccLlkTKzE). It will let you keep your tension where you want it and make changes to it as necessary
