before watching this! Such an amazing project! I am absolutely fascinated with this and find it all rather intriguing!! Enjoy!  ;D

my soaps are Euclidean model... I still haven't figured out to do them to represent hyperbolic model  :mwaha:

by the way with the example of dot and parallel line. Shouldn't the answer be infinite instead of one for Euclidean space. Which does work on 3 dimensional model also or am I being pedantic!

OK,  So Tanya - I read your post and thought to myself 'oh, this sounds interesting'
so, before clicking on the link, I read Andoy comments and thought to myself 'ok, maybe my brain is much to tired for this' :mwaha:

I shall have a wee look later (am at work just now) when I can watch without interruptions!

Same here, Denice. Interesting till Andoy put me right off. Can't be bothered with google translate. :mwaha:

Just watched - WOW!

Crochet will never seem the same again - I didn't realise I was so clever when I crocheted  ;D

I seem to have that effect on people... I put them right off  ::)

Just so long as you don't feel all hurt and rejected

I think if I'd watched it this morning I'd have got lost within 2secs  :mwaha:

Interesting - but I can't agree that the crocheters have been the first to demonstrate a model of hyperbolic space 'cos I remember our art master telling us in an A level History of Architecture lesson that electricity cooling towers are an example of hyperbolic paraboloid (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hyperbolic+paraboloid&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2K61Ue2LN8-p0AWs9IG4CA&sqi=2&ved=0CDsQsAQ&biw=1040&bih=866), imagine a circle of vertical poles and give them a twist (like some "hand tied" bouquets or free-standing bunches of corn (wheat usually).

Now that's just showing off your superior knowledge EJ ;)

Come to think of it I have a couple of long skirts which, if I were able to spin fast enough, open to more than circular and so are "hyperbolic models".

Therefore these "experts" who couldn't think of how to make a model demonstrating hyperbolic space must have been men!

Think RaRa skirts, Cheerleaders' and skaters' skirts.

Nevertheless these reefs are delightful projects, I wish there was one close by (I could use up a few odd remnants of yarns).

I believe you can join in on the project! They are accepting crocheted reefs from all around the world.

Fascinating altogether I think.
