Hi everyone  :hap3:

I should of introduced myself before asking questions, how rude of me.  I've been reading all the threads and you all sound very friendly and what a wealth of soap making tips.  No doubt i'll be needing help at some point.

I've been making CPS for a while and want to try something different.  Liquid soap and M&P.  Both sound a wee bit scary when reading books on how to make it.  But i'll through caution to the wind and maybe try something new this weekend.  Whats the worst that can happen???  New Kitchen maybe!!!!

Well, i live in Scottish but am originally from SW england.  Moved north due to work and seem to have stayed here.  I love it but not the dreaded midges... I have a 9 year old son, who thankfully is playing football all day today and giving me peace for a change.

Hello and welcome! I am not a soaper so won't be able to help you there but I look forward to getting to know you. I also have a 9 yr old son although he calls himself 10  ::) :mwaha: He loves football as well. I also have a daughter.

We got married in Scotland and although it is a lovely palce to visit I don't think I could live there-very cold and wet! I am from Australia originally though so anywhere in the UK is probably too cold and wet for me ;)

Good luck with the liquid soap, I'll cross my fingers for your kitchen  :mwaha:

I'll let you know how i get on.  Hubby is taking son fishing to escape the fall out and bad language that will undoubtedly follow my attemps.  Weather is freezing at the moment.  Snow, sleat, rain, hail then glorius sunshine.  four seasons all in one day today

A warm welcome Sam and so glad you got your gremlins all sorted out.  We have a few HP experts and there's nothing EJ don't know about M&P (which I have to say, I find the hardest for some reason).  We look forward to chatting with you around the boards and do have a bit of time out on the non-cosmo board (good for a giggle  ;) although be prepared to enter an ever so slightly insane world  ;D).

Hope you'll show & tell too, we like having a soapy/lotiony fix  ;)

Ooh...  Also be prepared to learn an entirely different vocab, inspired mostly by jojo  ;D

Looking forward to the new vocab.  My son is currenlty using words he's heard on the radio/tv and putting them into sentences that don't make any sense at all.  He says he's growing up and i should like that.  But the problem is you can't have a conversation with him as he's speaking complete drivel... so maybe the new vocab will help.  We can confuse the hell out of each other altogether.

:mwaha: That made me laugh! Does he talk a lot? My son just doesn't stop. He talks about everything and nothing, constantly, especially about cars, football, James Bond and Doctor Who.

What do you find scary about the idea of MP?

Some of the supply sites have illustrated instructions online - but if you want to give it a go and have any questions just ask.

One advantage is that added fixed oils such as pumpkinseed retain their colour and don't go brown and there is no danger of any stink when adding goatsmilk!

We obviously have two peas in pod.  Mainly talks about the Army!!!  He says he wants to join up when he's older and fight for king and country.  I've tried explaining we have a queen and not a king, but it seems i'm wrong according to him. 

Yesterday when in a cafe having lunch he was watching a "young couple being romantic" his words not mine.  Appently the poor young man got it completely wrong and wasn't doing a good job, so would never get married!!!!

My son is 9 going on 19 with an insane appetite and can make your ears bleed in 30 minutes..  Wouldn't swap him though.  Well not today anyway as he's out.  Oh the peace...

Hi Sam   :hi: Welcome to The Forum!  It's great here and full of lots of knowledgeable people and inspiration.  As Helen says, we also like to have a bit of a 'mad' giggle on non-cosmo, so do come and say 'hi'!  :)

Thanks everyone for making me more than welcome.  I've been looking at the books i've got on liquid soap and it seems to be a long process with a lot of possible reasons why it could all go wrong.

Any suggestions for great reading material would be greatly received.

I'm in the Outer Hebrides, but i lived in Helensburgh a few years ago.  Lovely place.  Miss the shopping, and nights out. 

I've been reading up this afternoon on liquid soap trying to syke myself up for the weekend...

Hi Sam! I was actually considering to go to Scotland to study 2 years ago!! Is it really beautiful? M&P is fun, fun and your son can join in (no caustic soda)! I have a 9 year old brother and he enjoys crafting M&P with me. I hope you enjoyed your quiet day!  (:hug:)

Scotland is a beautiful place.  I only came for six month to begin with.  And 17 years later i'm still here.  Did go to Cornwall for a wee bit in the middle (work reasons) but always knew i'd come back to scotland.
