Title: Re: Hello x Post by: Bubbles of Love on June 10, 2012, 05:36:37 PM Thank you everyone x
Please can you tell me where is the best place to start on here? I feel a bit lost :mwaha: there is so much excellent info and you all seem so talented. I would like to find out about creating a recipe or adapting one - I don't want to copy someone elses from a book. I have been making soaps by using recipes from books to practice but is that ok to sell it feels like I am selling someone elses work? I want to finalise one to put in for my assessment. Please feel free to move my post, but please give me a gentle nudge down the right corridor :mwaha: Sorry can you tell I am new ;D :buttrf: Title: Re: Hello x Post by: soapsbylouise on June 10, 2012, 05:43:49 PM hi there

I have found Troubled Bubbles Section - I shall head over there - sounds a bit ominous :mwaha: Title: Re: Hello x Post by: EJ on June 10, 2012, 06:07:49 PM Quote No question - even if you think it a daft one - will be answered! I think that should be "No question... ...will be left unanswered". (well I hope that's what was meant) Title: Re: Hello x Post by: Bubbles of Love on June 10, 2012, 06:09:42 PM ;D so do I x

Title: Re: Hello x Post by: EJ on June 12, 2012, 12:26:27 AM Quote I would like to find out about creating a recipe or adapting one - I don't want to copy someone elses from a book. I have been making soaps by using recipes from books to practice but is that ok to sell it feels like I am selling someone elses work? Just realised that this bit hasn't really been answered. I quite understand that you don't want to use a book's recipes for your own soaps (It may well be that a recipe that you decide on has also been someon else's independent choice - but that can't be helped). Best advice is to go to a lye calculator such as SoapCalc (http://www.soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcwp.asp) (this has a number of help pages worth looking at). Then play around putting various oils together and see what it gives for the properties of the soap. I spent quite a time doing this before I decided what to make. Title: Re: Hello x Post by: Vanilla on June 12, 2012, 03:24:29 PM Hi & welcome, I 2nd EJ's advice of getting familiar with soapcalc - you will be creating your own recipes in no time, it's brilliant. :)
Title: Re: Hello x Post by: retropants on June 12, 2012, 03:59:16 PM Hello LisaB! welcome! :) I agree, soapcalc is extremely useful!
Title: Re: Hello x Post by: Bubbles of Love on June 16, 2012, 08:19:34 AM :) Hello to everyone (waving)
Thank you for the messages, I am off to find the soap calc and get a recipe under way for my baby soap safety assessment.
