Post by: Bubbles of Love on June 06, 2012, 06:48:41 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am just in the very early days of setting up my business.

I am so glad to have found such an excellent forum.

Who would have thought there are so many people addicted to soap  :)

Hello and welcome to the forum.

This is a great forum for people starting off in the business.

Do you mind if I think of you as "Bubbles" - otherwise I'll get mixed up with the other Lisa.

Thank you everyone x

Please can you tell me where is the best place to start on here?

I feel a bit lost  :mwaha: there is so much excellent info and you all seem so talented.

I would like to find out about creating a recipe or adapting one - I don't want to copy someone elses from a book. I have been making soaps by using recipes from books to practice but is that ok to sell it feels like I am selling someone elses work?
I want to finalise one to put in for my assessment.
Please feel free to move my post, but please give me a gentle nudge down the right corridor  :mwaha: Sorry can you tell I am new  ;D  :buttrf:

I have found Troubled Bubbles Section - I shall head over there - sounds a bit ominous  :mwaha:

I think that should be "No question...  ...will be left unanswered".

(well I hope that's what was meant)

Just realised that this bit hasn't really been answered.

I quite understand that you don't want to use a book's recipes for your own soaps (It may well be that a recipe that you decide on has also been someon else's independent choice - but that can't be helped).

Best advice is to go to a lye calculator such as SoapCalc (http://www.soapcalc.net/calc/soapcalcwp.asp) (this has a number of help pages worth looking at). Then play around putting various oils together and see what it gives for the properties of the soap.

I spent quite a time doing this before I decided what to make.

 :) Hello to everyone (waving)

Thank you for the messages, I am off to find the soap calc and get a recipe under way for my baby soap safety assessment.

I hope I sound confident  ;D
