Title: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 18, 2012, 02:10:18 PM Hello everyone. I have been lurking for a while and decided it is time to introduce myself :)
I have been making CP soap (12 years), lotions & creams and other bath products. I have a little shop which I love to bits. Many years ago I was a computer programmer, but wouldn't change what I do now for anything. I make mostly EO products but do veer off into FOs a bit. I have been reading a lot and am really enjoying the forum. Title: Re: Hello Post by: EJ on February 18, 2012, 02:21:04 PM Hello Sunshine, welcome.
How nice to have your own shop - do you run it on your own (just thinking of making and also being front of shop, Title: Re: Hello Post by: Suzanne on February 18, 2012, 02:48:31 PM Hello and welcome.

Title: Re: Hello Post by: bambi on February 18, 2012, 03:31:24 PM Welcome to the forum ;D nice to meet you
Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 18, 2012, 04:03:26 PM Thank you!
EJ, I have 3 people that help me in the shop. One is a student that helps over weekends and the other two help with the manufacturing. We rotate, but I try and spend at least 2 days a week there and visit once a day. I don't think I could do it if I had to run it full-time. Even now it is a bit of a squeeze at times. I did markets for many years and that is seriously hard work compared to having a shop :D Title: Re: Hello Post by: Denice on February 18, 2012, 04:17:33 PM Hi

I love it and feel right at home with British humour. ;D The shop is in South Africa where I live. Here are some photos from when we just opened. I has changed quite a bit since, mostly with the introduction of new furniture and products. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.128050740576572.12328.101526989895614&type=3 (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.128050740576572.12328.101526989895614&type=3) Title: Re: Hello Post by: Helen on February 20, 2012, 08:44:30 AM Oh my, how GORGEOUS!!! I would find it very difficult not to go in there but even more difficult to leave!! It is perfect! I love all the fittings, the attention to little details and how it is laid out. I can almost smell it! What a wonderful place for anyone to work too. I can fully see you opening a chain of these sunshine. Really well done to you, I am ever so impressed but can't imagine how busy you must be :buttrf:
Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 20, 2012, 09:00:42 AM Oh Helen, you are very kind. I must admit I love working in the shop.
I did wholesale and markets for many years before opening the shop, so the whole process is fairly streamlined. Plus I have wonderful staff without whom I could never have managed. I am lucky in that my best friend is a potter and made all the pottery for the shop. Another good friend is a graphic designer and she helps with posters and artwork. Title: Re: Hello Post by: madpiano on February 20, 2012, 09:32:17 AM Hey Sunshine, welcome here!!
Are you on The Dish as well? I remember seeing your shop before (and drooling over it) Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 20, 2012, 09:46:34 AM Hi Madpiano yes, I am on the dish, but seldom post there nowadays. Africa has always had much closer ties with the UK and Europe than the USA and we inherited a fair amount of English culture. Most South Africans love English humour (Monty Python etc. has a cult following) and I feel very much at home here at fresholi.
Thank you very much for the welcome. Title: Re: Hello Post by: Rosh on February 20, 2012, 12:59:29 PM Hello and welcome. Your shop looks lovely! What a great achievement!
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Lindy on February 20, 2012, 07:00:23 PM Sunshine your shop is wonderful! I would love to have one that looked like that. It is so inviting with lots to catch the eye of a passer-by to get the Impulse purchases... very well thought out. :buttrf:
Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 21, 2012, 03:45:57 AM Thank you :)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Alphya on February 22, 2012, 01:20:12 AM Just had a peek at your photos, I adore your shop! Would love to come in and have a browse but I'm too far away ;)
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Menolly on February 23, 2012, 12:34:06 AM Hi, Sunshine and welcome! I just had a look at your pix - I really love your shop, it all looks so beautiful! :buttrf:
Whereabouts in South Africa are you? I have cousins in the Cape, Pretoria and Durban and my mum lives near Skeerpoort. Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 24, 2012, 11:52:13 AM Thank you. We are in Johannesburg, Menolly. Are you from South Africa originally?
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Menolly on February 24, 2012, 11:49:21 PM Double posting - sorry :-[ :-[
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Menolly on February 24, 2012, 11:51:31 PM No, but somehow most of my relatives seem to have ended up there! My brother has just returned, with wife and 9 y/o daughter, after 20 years in both South Africa and Tanzania (he's a balloon pilot - flew for Bill Harrop until last September and is currently on a short-term contract in TZ again).
My aunt and uncle lived in Pretoria and then Durban until my uncle retired (Board of Water Affairs) and they returned to the UK - my cousin and his sister are still there though. Their sister is here though and she sometimes posts on the Fresholi forum! My mum decided to emigrate seven years ago and although she originally went because my brother and sister-in-law had just presented her with her only grandchild, she so fell in love with the country that there is no way she wants to return to UK! Then there are my cousins-by-marriage (husband's cousins and their families) who are in the Cape. We keep promising ourselves a visit! Title: Re: Hello Post by: sunshine2 on February 25, 2012, 07:07:41 AM Thats a lot of family in South Africa. I hope you do come to visit one day and maybe we can meet and talk about soap and stuff :)
