Does anyone do a 'from-scratch' (ie not using a base) facial cream for really dry skin? I'm fed up forking out for high street products. I need a true cream not anyhydrous. I've not had enough time to play with creams, so mine aren't spot on yet. Let me know :)

I made a really lovely face cream but it's not SAed... It does the trick for me though and you're welcome to one!

I make a few of them. One is the Morning dew on roses which testers have really like. But I don't have SA or C-test for it yet. Do you need it just for yourself?

I think the 'trick' for a good cream is your emulsifier, some are not so easy to use, and mixture ends up separating.

Another v imp thing to consider when making creams for dry skin is that you use a lot of oils that are heat sensitive so you should really wait until your emulsion is cooled down to at least 40oC before adding goodies like borage or evening primrose. No need for thermometer if you don't have one, just place the bottom of jug/pot you use to make the emulsion in on the inside part of your arm, adjacent to elbow fold.  If you can 'hold' it there for a few seconds, it means it's under 42oC.
