Scott and I have been chatting and we wondered what you all thought to the idea of us offering training courses? We'd cover legislation, labelling, getting a safety assessment, who to notify etc... etc...

Probably a bit late for a lot of you. But for those of you who are a bit newer, or who don't sell would you be interested? Those of you with more experience, can you cast your minds back. Any suggestions or feedback most welcome..

Sounds good to me , although at the moment cost and location would be at the front of my mind.

That's a great idea. I went on one with SJ, but only because I tagged it onto another course - the location meant it would have cost too much money to make the journey just for the small course. That might deter people coming from further afield if the course was a hands on course rather than a distance one.

I'd be interested if not too expensive. I went on an aromatherapy product making course last year which was advertised as including that kind of advice. However, we were advised to "fly under the radar" unless aiming to be stocked in shops so not exactly helpful!

Coming late - I think it's a good idea but look carefully at competitors. Many offering it already, including home study.  :buttrf:

Thanks Andy. Yes, I've had a good look around. A lot of the people providing the courses are very experienced and experts in all aspects of the skincare industry. Scott and I feel we can offer a level of specialism when it comes to the legislation side of things. That's the plan anyway!

I'm sure you can, but boy, isn't legislation bloody boring (sorry for my honest & direct opinion)? I know one 'provider' that used to have a 2-day course covering the subject which has been reduced to 1 day only after a few runs and feedback from participants.

I find it an extremely dry subject to teach (on drugs), although with product making, it can be made quite 'hands on'.

Just a thought - perhaps rather than a course, why not offer a 'legislation pack' instead?  Talking from personal experience, even though I knew all about the legislation, I really wished I could have found 'someone' to just give me a file with all the templates for all the paperwork we need to complete (MSDS, PIFs, EO concentrations allowed in a simple table for immediate identification, label template with min requirements, etc.).

Maybe think of something more of a workshop where people receive the templates and put 'one complete legis pack' together.

You can even ask them to have a 'formula' ready to use in the workshop, make it as the 'pre-workshop exercise'. 

You can also offer a print out or web link to all legislation applicable and they can read or consult these on their own time.  :buttrf:
