Title: Can you cope with another newbie?
Post by: lululiz on January 30, 2008, 09:52:58 PM
Hello all,

I was so thrilled when a friend of mine told me about this site and the forum, and I very much look forward to spending time here.

I have been making soap and B & B products for over two years now, and am totally addicted. I really enjoy creating new EOs blends for my soaps and other products, but also, I can never resist new FOs from my favourite UK supplier ( are we allowed to mention names? ). I received my safety assessments for the soaps and some b&b products a few months ago and am now busily formulating, creating and selling (one shop, and by word of mouth, as the website is still not done, sigh ).

I belong to a couple of other forums and spend way too much time there, h**sework goes out of the window, lol. I love reading about other peoples experiences, their experiments with new ingredients etc, and admire the photographs of their awesome products, packaging etc. There are so many fabulously creative and knowledgable people out there, they are such an inspiration. I am so pleased to have found a UK based forum, and although I have only read a little on this forum, I get the sense of a really friendly and sharing community. I just hope that one of these days I'll be able to contribute something worthwhile.

A little bit more personal info - My name is Liz, and I have been happily married for 26 years to my DH Andy, have 3 grown up boys and 2 much loved dogs ( dang, that kinda gives my age away, guess I can't get away with pretending to be 25, lol ). We live on the Sussex coast and spend as much time as we can at our little cottage in France. I am a terrible hoarder of all things weird and wonderful, especially antique lace and linen, quilts, eiderdowns, books, records, oh heck, you name it, I'll probably have it stashed away somewhere. It drives my DH potty! Before my soap addiction I used to do a lot of quilting, embroidery, sewing.... no time for that anymore.

Anything else you would like to know, just ask!

Hello Liz, I should think there's room for a few more.

I like blending EOs too or various items.

As you're down on the Sussex coast watch out for eruptions in Brighton area - JoJo does weird things with soap!

Hi Liz
I'm down on the south coast too in Brighton, whereabouts are you??
We love France, sold our house about 3 years ago, now OH is getting the itch big time to do it again.

Get your website done, would love to see your wares.
Enjoy the site, its a nice, friendly place to be.   You're definitely not a newbie  ;D  that'll be me  ;D

Best wishes
KarenS.

Hi Liz  :hi:
Have fun here.

As you're down on the Sussex coast watch out for eruptions in Brighton area - JoJo does weird things with soap!

:mwaha:  If you're anywhere near Brighton & you hear an explosion, it's not the Grand Hotel, it's me.  ;D  And I don't do weird things with soap deliberately, just seems to be my speciality.   :pot:

Hi Liz,

A very warm welcome from me  ;D  Thank you for telling us about yourself, its always lovely to hear about other members.  I hope you enjoy your time here, it is rather a melting pot of various skills and experience and it is wonderful to just bounce ideas around or develop ideas together.  The non-cosmeholic board is a rather busy one but its great for bonding, ranting and most of all, having a good old giggle (please go through some of the threads, some are very, very funny to read)

You may notice that there are two aspects to Fresholi.  The forum and the main site where you we are working together to build a good library of resources.  You might want to consider a gallery until you get your site up and running (then it can be linked to from there when it is ready) but it does provide a good window for your customers to access your products  ;)
Well, welcome....  oh, and its ok to say you are 25.  Most of us are 21 + VAT (some have P&P to add too  ;))

Ooh, before I forget, do prepare yourself for a new language that you will get used to  ;D

Oh my goodness, you girls are quick! Heck, where do I start with the replies, lol?!?

I am in St. Leonards on Sea ( Hastings ) so not a million miles away from Brighton, well within listening range when it comes to major explosions in Brighton. Ahem........ does one dare ask what you DO get up to, JoJo? I have had the odd volcano soap myself, lol, but not major explosions..... yet.

Helen, thank you so much for the really friendly welcome and the great tips regarding the gallery. I'll just have to get to grips with posting pics, lol, which is way more difficult than making soaps and lotions! But I think you got that covered somewhere as well, havent you? What a great, efficient forum this is.

Errrrrr........... whats this new language...... or should't I ask, lol

You're safe Liz, you're safe (unlike Karen S who's within explosion distance).  I haven't managed to physically blow up the kitchen but there's always time I s'pose - it's more likely to be me that explodes (especially if there's any more blue soap around in the next few days.  I CAN'T do blue soap and there's been alot of showing off of blue soap on here lately  :bawl: )

You'll soon get to learn what croap is too when I've been let loose in the kitchen again (stands for cr*p soap  :mwaha: )

He, he....  I wouldn't ask about the language if I were you, you'll drop across it soon - promise (a fairly recent new member actually googled it and blow me, it came up on google, Jojo was very proud indeed  :mwaha:  Have a look on the front page and read about jj's explosions exploits in her very poem 'A Funny Soap Tale'  ;)

If its techy help pleeeeaase don't look at me - kes is the one.  He's always there to help (and has very little choice since I shout at him until its done  ;)).  Regarding the gallery, you don't need to post pictures, just email them to me and I (well kes) will do the rest for you.  Also, do look at the ways of acquiring 'Author' status on the main site, it will give you access to many more resources.

P.S.  Ear plugs might be useful if you within listening distance and maybe a hard hat will be useful, jj's prone to soap flinging too along with several other members (not me of course) - its a sport!

One thing you need to know about our illustrious leader Liz - she tells HUGE porkies  :mwaha:

She's as likely to fling croap as the rest of us.

Hello Liz, nice to meet you. Look forward to reading about and hopefully seeing some of your stuff. Have fun and see you around  :)
BTW JoJo makes perfectly good soap, tis her who lies. She's just scared of losing her croapy crown!

Indeed she is.....  losing it to me (it fits rather well too - I tried it when she wasn't looking  ;))

CROAP - a most excellent word, lol, have to add that to my vocabulary

sooooooooooo, blue soap is a bit of an issue, eh? You'll be pleased to hear though that I haven't made any blue soap in ages. BUT, I do have pics of the old ones, I could always post those..........  ( insert innocent looking haloed smilie here, cant find one. Oh bah, I'll just go for this one  :rasp:, tehehe )

Ah.... that would be mine - don't go putting into no couldron now jj you hear, don't want no croap shpells castin on me (shpells is deliberately shpelled that way Liz - although I am a croap speller jj would, no doubt, be a sh** shpellerer  ;))
