Title: Moulds out of the box Post by: Eva on November 24, 2010, 03:58:10 PM This time of year there are loads of chocolate boxes circulating. One ended up on our table and was quickly emptied. When I was about to sort it into recycle bins I thought the cavities looked like a mould and figured I'd have to try. So here are wax melts in progress. Didn't want to fill them to the top in one go in case they'd bulge so I'm taking it in three steps. I melted the wax as usual, added the colours and scent then let it cool as much as possible but still being liquid, about 50-55C. Works so far. :) Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: polly on November 24, 2010, 04:07:09 PM The file woudn't open for me Eva :(
Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Alphya on November 24, 2010, 04:11:57 PM I like it! Very nice idea :) Would work well for bath melts too I'd imagine. Gives us all an excuse to go and buy chocolates now ;)
Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Eva on November 24, 2010, 04:15:21 PM The file woudn't open for me Eva :( Sorry Polly, don't know the reason for that. I've only uploaded the pic here to Fresholi so it's not on another server. Maybe Elaine will know why.Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Eire on November 24, 2010, 04:15:41 PM Very creative, Eva. I'm surprised it didn't melt.

Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: corrie on November 24, 2010, 11:05:42 PM Now if there wasn't that law about food-a-likes you could buy the inserts for choccies and the boxes to go with them and market them as cocoa butter tuffles.
The results look fab Eva, I love the 2 tone colours, very smart! Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Alphya on November 25, 2010, 02:03:39 AM I like! Really pretty :)

Oh, Eva, you have the guts to do things I think of but for some reason never pursue!... My neighbours eat a lot of chocs and biscuits, and every week I look at their recycling bin and think I should try it. I think the cleaning puts me off... Any chance you threw threw the moulds in the dishwasher??? Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Joy on November 26, 2010, 10:42:04 PM I have spoken to TS about the foody lookalikes and they have assured me it's OK to make soap and other stuff that looks like food providing you put on the package that it's not for human consumption and/or suitable for children. It's more for things like rubbers and things that could cause harm or death if swallowed, soap wouldn't
Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Eva on November 26, 2010, 11:36:16 PM Any chance you threw threw the moulds in the dishwasher??? No, I don't think it will survive the dishwasher. These were not messy or slobbed so they passed as ok. :) Title: Re: Moulds out of the box Post by: Andy on November 27, 2010, 10:07:42 AM Thanks, Eva - that's the problem with my 'supplier', as the moulds have been sitting outdoors and would definitely need cleaning... ;)

No, I don't think it will survive the dishwasher. These were not messy or slobbed so they passed as ok. :) Andy you could also make a permanent mould with silicon ones you pick out your favourite shapes, on saying this, you would have to give EJ a heads up, she's showed how to do it and i even bought the silicon and plaster casting thing but so far have not gathered the courage to do it. |
