Title: Hello Post by: sharon on January 11, 2008, 11:01:01 AM Hi everyone.
I'm Sharon, an aromatherapist (studied in Australia half a life ago ;)). I've been making my own skincare products for about 7 years, and ran another business specialising in baby products until 3 years ago when I stopped due to illness. This time round I have a streamlined range which I've been using and sharing wth friends for a couple of years. It is just face care which is suitable for all skin types using all natural oils, butters and waxes. I thought I had my formulations set until I saw a few different ingredients in the fresholi shop so I think I might have to play with some of them a bit more and see what I come up with. :mwaha: Sorry this got so long, I am just really excited to be here (finally-had a bit of trouble lol) :hap2: Hope to get to know you soon! Sharon xx Title: Re: Hello Post by: EJ on January 11, 2008, 11:21:23 AM Hello Sharon, welcome to the group.
You should find plenty to discuss re lotions and potions and may well find a suitable chemist as the matter of assessments has cropped up a few times. Enjoy yourself here. Title: Re: Hello Post by: sarahlf on January 11, 2008, 11:21:46 AM Hi and welcome! We're a great, friendly but slightly mad bunch here and will be happy to help out with any advice where we can!

I'm just quickly popping in (busy morning - a sort of :argh: kind of morning). A fellow aromatherapist :yipee: There's a number of us here, Zoe & myself are practising and some others have completely diversified. I'm sure you will have lots to share and, like me, will be inspired by other very talented people we have here from so many craft backgrounds - like a virtual melting pot it is :pot: Anyway Sharon, normally I'm not so short and sweet (I can ramble) but I wanted to say hi and give you a lovely big warm welcome - its fantastic to have you here ;D I will be back on later after I have worked through my to do list ;) A big welcome again!! () Title: Re: Hello Post by: JANE on January 11, 2008, 12:36:58 PM Welcone Sharon. I am venturing into the world of soap. I am very new at it and know far less than many of the experienced ladies on here. I hope you enjoy the forum and website Title: Re: Hello Post by: JGorse on January 11, 2008, 12:52:47 PM Hi Sharon :hi:

I too am looking for a chemist. Let me know if you find one. Do you have any idea how much the tests cost. (ballpark figure). Thanks I am new to making lotions, but they are going down a storm with my friends. Welcome Barbara :ghug: Title: Re: Hello Post by: sharon on January 11, 2008, 04:01:13 PM Thanks for all the lovely welcomes.
Barabara I have had varying quotes for safety assessments. About 6 or 7 years ago it cost me £150 for around 10 products which is so cheap compared to now! Now I've been quoted prices from £60 to £200 for the safety assessments. Tests start at around £200 each (stability and challenge tests) But I've only asked about 3 places (by doing google searches) ::) Sharonxx Title: Re: Hello Post by: corrie on January 11, 2008, 05:13:15 PM Hello and welcome.
I havent made creams myself but its only a matter of time till I do :D There are some very helpfull and knowledgable people here and no doubt I will pick your brains sometime in the future. For assessment try www.pattinsonscientific.com/ contact Nigel Payne. They are apparently very reasonable and I am going to use them for my soap. Corrie I've emailed them and am waiting to hear back, thanks for that :) Title: Re: Hello Post by: Helen on January 13, 2008, 10:42:54 PM Hi Sharon,
I've now published those lovely recipes and you are now an 'Author'!! Thank you again ;D Title: Re: Hello Post by: sharon on January 14, 2008, 03:57:31 PM Thanks Helen :yipee: I have loads of massage blends from over the years but I wasn't sure if that was what you were after? Also I find it is so much down to personal preference and experience that I feel a bit silly giving essential oil blends to aromatherapists ::) ;D
Title: Re: Hello Post by: Helen on January 14, 2008, 09:21:50 PM Not at all Sharon, its interesting and useful for everyone including other therapists (in particular me ;D). :)
